Why are our doors so damn cheap. They rattle, the window chatters, the snaps pop out....damn junk. I have a 99 GS with power everything...have any of you figured out a way to make our cheap ass doors more solid and stop all the rattling and noices when you shut the door.

My doors squeak.. I need to fix it sometime. People also always slam my doors, it's like they close easier than most other doors. Once they slam it shut I yell at them, so don't ever slam my doors emoji It's also really loud if they are slammed since you hear stuff rattle emoji

agreed, our doors suck ass. i hate the window rattle. what i hate more is the insanly cheap door panels. it seems as though many of the screws holding the door panel on (as well as the ones holding the power window module) are screwed into some really brittle plastic. if i wanted to, i could easily rip my door panel off with one arm...they really suck.

:shhh: i do cocaine :/shhh:

Our windows rattle because they are trackless. If you look at a Chevy vehicle that has the whole door, not just a half door, you'll notice the window stays in a track at the back of the door...so no matter how high they are rolled up they don't rattle because they are held in place. Ours however are only held in by the window mechanics and no track, this is why they rattle.

As for the other rattles, put a set of dynamat extreme door kits in and use a small bead of 3M Caulk (never hardens) around the edges of the door panels and you'll be fine emoji

I like how the glass wobbles around when it's halfway down and you're on the highway. :p
I also hate it when peole slam my doors. WTF? You know? They always slam that passenger door when they get out. Why?!?!?!
On positive note, I do like not having that track up the sides of the window. You gotta love the smooth action of reaching through the open window, pulling the handle to unlock the door (since the lock sucks ass) and then sliding your hand down to the back, pulling it open, and then being able to get in and close the door without letting go in one fluid motion. I hate cars with window tracks now. emoji I just tell myself "I bet a race car rattles like this." heh emoji

basically- eclipses need an upper frame to the door and a track for the glass. I hate when people shut the door by the glass. It looks like it's gonna snap back or something. emoji

That's how we pimps be doin it.

If you have keyless entry then you can just unlock it and when you go to open it, slide your hand over the top, sit down, and close the door from the top of the door. It drives ladies nuts.

And it never fails to have the passenger slam the door, and be like "opps???" or say "your doors rattle?" (which they really mean the windows) when they get out, it's like WTF!?

funny you say this... I was talking to a guy on DSMTALK, or DSM tuners i forget, anyway, hes an admin... He was also pretty pissed off about this and I told him what to do and he made a write up... kinda took all the credit, but what are you giong to do, My paint guy and I found out about it. There are yellowish in color tabs on the inside of the doors, one at the drop towards the back of the door(in the inside)and there is also one behind the speaker so you need to take the speaker out and press them both in, these keep the window on the track correctly, what happens is the velvet pads get worn after age and to fix that, just bend them against the window, watch out and be careful not to break the glass

no panels?? why in good gods name would you want to do that?? they aren't that heavy afterall. emoji
actually.. I have figured out a way to make it stop, on my car at least. just open up the door, take tha panel off and look inside. You will see 2 tracks inside for the mechanism, make sure they are all on track and tighten the bolts that connect the glass to those little leads on the track? Any understand what Im saying?? I'll try and get some pics of the parts Im talking about when I take off my panel to get that black tar-like adheasive off. I got my pass side window smashed on halloween and had the glass replaced and that just caused all sorts of rattle, but tighten those bolts up and add some really thick grease to those 2 tracks. That should help keep the rattle down. And if that doeshn't work, you could always cut up some styrofome blocks and wedge them against the rails and the door skin to help take away the shock of the slamming doors.

p.s.- our doors should close on there own if there still original and you haven't done any work to it. I remember closing my doors with just 1 finger. little push and the weight of the door carries it to close.
