Alright.. for now Im stuck with getting rid of the hideous look of the drum brakes in the back with my new rims. Dont have the money to do the brake conversion yet so Im going to paint the drums to touch it up. What kind of paint will I need and what do you think would look better, black or silver paint? I've got silver rims in case you're wondering emoji

I used high temp (800 degree) high gloss black paint for my rear drums and used newspaper to cover everything except for the drum. I like black, but I have a black car so it goes well. I would go with black though, because the silver will be more noticeable and personally I would rather the drums go unnoticeable and center more attention to my rims.

Yeah only color I would use would be a gloss or flat black.

And just pull the drums to paint them, much easier and you'll get better coverage.

when I painted mine chrysler red I put newspapers all around and then used a wire brush to clean it good from the rust and stuff, remember to cover your studs emoji I used engine paint also

I just painted my calipers this weekend. Originally, on my brother's advice, I first set out to paint them red. OMG, what a mistake. WAY too loud and gay looking. I quickly re-primed them, and went with black. I probably used 4 or 5 thick coats of high temp gloss black. Looks very clean.

With brakes, I always recommend to go with a low-key color or a color that matches your paint color. I always stress to eclipse owners to not go "gay" with accessories on their cars. The car looks terrific UNLESS it's homo'ed up with stickers, ugly graphics, and weird looking wings.

Always think C-L-E-A-N! emoji

(Please excuse all of the homosexual references above. It's just slang. Gay people are cool in my book, too. emoji )

Uh Jason, your calipers already were black... emoji

Why do you guys want to make it harder on yourselves? Covering fender wells and sides of the car and wheel studs. It takes less than a minute to pop the drum off, then spray in safety.

They were, but after I did the front GSX swap, the new ones needed paint. And oh yes, they are nice! emoji

(now I have GSX brakes all around!! emoji ) Talk about a change; starting with some weak-ish "RS" type smaller front calipers and rear drums, and now completely transforming all four into the dual piston fronts and rear discs.

>>i thought the rears on all are single piston?

They are. Perhaps, I didn't make my statement clear enough. My bad.

anyone got tips for
>keeping off brake dust?

Don't brake too hard and get some pads that don't throw too much dust. Besides that, I wouldn't worry. You can either re-paint every couple of years or get some of that very expensive brush-on caliper paint. I've heard that stuff does a better job of repelling dust.

also did you guys clear coat the
>calipers or anything?

Not me.

My KVR Carbon Fiber pads kick up little dust and especially with the new 4 disc set up, stops like a champ, no fade, no warping on the rotors either.
