Hi all,
i am getting some LED mirrors (non powered) off flea bay and i know someone has a writeup for running the wires, etc. i have a RS, so if anyone could point me in the right direction for a writeup i would appreciate it. i did attempt a search, but the info im looking for did not show up in my results.

ok, i got the same mirrors, the ones with the blue LED's right? well i just hooked them up last weekend and here is how i did it. there will be three wires, a blue (powers the blue LEDs), a white (powers the yelloe LEDs), and a black (ground). you will have to add wire to make them longer, but i ran those down the engine bay to the turn signal wires in the headlight. there is a harness right behind the turn signal in the headlight that has three wires. there is a green/white, a green/red/ and a black. on the other passenger side the green/red is now the green/black, but the green/white is still there. i hooked the white wire from my mirrors to the green/white wire and the blue one to the green/red(green/black on the other side) and the black to black. here is the problem i have though...the green/white wire is the parking light wire i believe which lets the lights stay, on and the green/red is what makes it blink. the orange LEDs light up fine when i trun on my parking lights and my headlights, however the blue LEDs will not blink when i put the turn signal on if i have my lights on. it will blink blue if i have no other lights on. i dont know how to wire it up differently yet, but i want to get the orange LED's to light up and also blink, just like my turn signals in the front. i dont even really like the blue and its not legal anyways. but if you wire them up this way, the orange ones will come on but they will not blink.
you cant really see them during the day, but when it gets dark, it looks cool as hell! i get alot of double takes now. if i can just figure out how to get the orange to blink, it will be badass. i hoped this helped you and didnt confuse you. if you have any other questions just ask.

i didnt drill any holes. i ran the wires from behind the door panel near the top, then under a rubber piece up there, then over to underneath the fender, and then into the engine bay. i just covered the wires that were exposed with electical tape and you cant even notice them, and they do not get pinched when i close the door.

so your wires are exposed under the fender as they go into the engine right? no big deal about that thought but i just wanted to make sure i understood what you meant.
i could prolly use the boot in between the door and car right? prolly a bitch to get off but thats possible i guess.. then run the wires into the engine under the dash?
damn hope you don't mind me asking you these questions, but i need to make sure.. getting the mirrors painted now.. should be done by mid week...

i dont mind at all, ask away, glad i can help. yeah the wires are exposed, but the only time you can see them is when you have the door open, and even then you can hardly notice them at all because i wrapped them in tape. maybe if you were looking there you would. i was going to do it the way you said but it was too much work, it was getting dark, but it could be done...i may reroute them someday. i could route them better through the engine bay too, but i just did a quick run and made sure they didnt get in the way of anything. i dont showoff my engine or anything so it wasnt a big deal to me.
EDIT: i just reread your post again...with the hood closed you cant see the wires, but when it is open, yes you can see the wires coming out of the fender.
