i have a custom plate under my front bumper, for support and less stressing and flexing at high speeds, plus if you detail your engine bay, beleive it or not, it keeps out alot of dust and debris.
we used a regualar sheetmetal from the your average lowes. took the front bumper and designed a prototype skid plate( we used card board) under the front bumper. we cut the card board into making it look like a actual plate. then we placed it on the sheet metal, and basically cut around the card board. then we sanded the edges, and installed with twist lock screws, about 8 of them, for a quick drop and reinstall. looks pretty good and it doesnt take long to construct, not to mention it weighs nothing.
