hey what's up i was wondering if anybody knew what's going on with this.... i have a 95 talon esi and my girlfreind has a 96 eclipse gs-t spyder... and both of the cigarette lighters don't work. i was just wondering if anybody can tell me what's going on with this before i go tearing away at the dashes... cause i know the fuse isn't blown and we replaced the lighter unit... thanks

What type of lighters are they? If they are disposibles, just throw them out and get new ones. No really, my 97, the lighter never stays down, so it never works. Try though pushing it in and giving it a turn, then it sould stay in.

LAST EDITED ON 18-May-01 AT 07:31 PM (PST)

I'm a smoker, but i NEVER smoke in my car, and i sure as hell won't let anyone else do it, either, so the fact that it never worked never bothered me. Once i actually had the console out (a six bolt affair to get it out - i was wiring an amp), i noticed that someone had failed to reconnect the power wire to the thing. I hooked it back up, and i've never had a problem since (even though i still don't smoke in my car emoji ).

In case you're interested (if you have an aftermarket stereo unit, cd changer, or amp wired in that you didn't do yourself, this may very well be the case) the center console comes out with six screws: Two on each side to the rear, easily visible when you move the seats forward, two under the cup holder/flip-top thingy(the whole assy lifts out - pull up on it, you'll see), and two behind the DIN unit trim (goes around your radio and a/c controls) at the front, which pops right out if you pull on it. It's not hard to check. Once you have the screws out, the whole center console lifts out. This is the way it is in my manual, it may be different for an automatic.

I pushed mine in and turned. The shit stayed in too long. Smoke started coming out, and then it finally flew out when I touched it. Burnt my damn leg. That was when some hot girl asked me for a light. I don't smoke, so now I just have my radar det. plugged in there.

it would make a good place for the ejector seat button

i disconnected mine when i had the console out when i was installing my cd changer. i dont smoke so no need for it. it would make a good place for some kind of switch, like fog lights r ground lights r something

most people look at art...we drive it!!!
