#4155, "Headlight off, HOW DO I GET IT OFF THE CAR!?!"

Hey, I tried to get my front bumper and headlights off, so I used Cyan's guide (thanks Cyan). Everything was off including the hard to get to bolts underneath the headlights, so the lamps were completely free to move around, but the bumper and fender were too close together for me to pull the headlight out. The wire plug thing was in the way (it's on the bottom). How do I get the headlight off? I can't get the bumper off because there are 2 (1 on each side)plastic expanding screw things underneath the lamps that I can't get too unless the lamp is out, so I'm stuck either way.

Help please, thanks

if you took out allthe bolts and screws off the top sides and bottom all you have to do is take take out the bolts for the bumper support. if you look inthe center oppening you will se the bolts hoding the brakets for the big support beam that s behinfd the bumper cover. the bumper is attached to this by a screw or clip that is hidden under the headlights if you get the bolts out it will com right off. also dont feel bad it took me about 2 hours of struggling to figure this out.

Probably best to remove the front bumper. The main supports for the front bumper are in the frame railing rught underneath and behind where the headlights are. If you jack the car up, you can see 2 holes on each side of the frame with bolts that hold the bumper brackets in place. remove these 4 bolts, and remove the 4 bolts that connect the front bumper to the fender, and all the little bolts under the front bumper and on top, and it should slide right off.

bring it on............

Ok I finally did it. Not exactly what you guys were talking about but, there were 2 plastic expanding screw things under EACH headlight facing DOWN?!?!?!? GHAAA how are you supposed to get a screw driver in there and unscrew them? There's about 1/4 of an inch space. So's I ripped the shit outta them and the bumper came off, see my problem was I couldn't get the headlight out to get to the screws and couldn't get the bumper off to get the headlights out so.... Thanks anyways guys. I got rid of all the ugly black plastic crap and put in some Diamond Lath, it's used for stucco. I work at Home Depot so I got da connection, hehe. Looks good, just gotta paint the mesh.

yeha i was gonna say just get a jigsaw in there and cut off the tabs that hold the bumper on under the lights. or break off the bracket for the bottom headlight bolt. just remember, its now a 5 minute operation, youve done the hard part already

I just ripped all those little frickin plastic clips out. S'not like the offer any real support anyway, they're plastic.

Dude, all I have holding the bumper on now are the 2 bolts on each fender and the 5 on top (under the hood) nothing else. It doesn't sag or anything and looks perfect. Cyan's right, now I think it would LITERALLY take me less than 15 mins to get completely off.

Thanks, guys/gals

PS, I removed it so I could put some mesh in there. It looks cool but I need to paint the mesh, it's silver and looks pretty weird. Maybe I'll get pics.
