#41200, "Get your HID did..."

Well I installed my HID kit today but not without issues. It took me 3 hours cause of the obstruction of the wires to the fuse box and the IC pipes. The passenger side took 30 min the drivers-side 2.5 hours. And the result was that when I went to start it up, that side began to smoke. I checked all wires, connections and saw nothing wrong, but it won't start. So I am returning the ballast for a new one. I don't think it would be the bulb. Good thing for the Hanabi 1 year warranty. I was tired so I wasn't going to take the good one off. Anyways here is a pic of HALF of it. Also a good comparison to the PiAA Platinum Super Whites. Later. emoji

Let's see your list of mods and car pic, please emoji

In the rap song by Missy Elliot: Work it, there is a line that goes, "Get your Hair did..." It's stipid but its the Internet and my post and I can name it "Two fatsos eating at Popeyes" and it makes no difference. Plus I am racer with style. Some show. some go. I like lights, I like neon, I like my system and for whatever purpose my back seat. emoji

Yeah you are right. I found his info. I am not affect by his post. He is entitle to call my car rice if he likes. I have been online long enough to not really care. I'd be more worried if he didn't have his own opinion. But reading his post he really didn't say much. So it's all good emoji

same thing happened to me (obstruction and everything). what it is is that you probably need a relay. our headlamps push 65v or something and typical ballasts accept 60v (from my experience). i got a relay from my friend that makes the power 60v and connected it to the ballast and it worked great except that one of my ballast has a short and they're lexus ballasts so it's not like i can take them back emoji

You don't need a relay for that Hanabi kit. Something probably just went wrong with that ballast. You'll probably be good to go when you get a new ballast. Make sure your foglights are off when you turn on your headlights too.

lol no kidding... dammit just let these threads rest in peace instead of grave jacking them.

anyways, you leave your fog lights off b/c the HID's draw a fairly large amount of current when you turn them on. it's only for a split second - kinda like a current spike. if you have lots've accesories (fog lights for example) running when you turn them on, the excessive current draw will be enough to blow a fuse. once the HID's are already on, you can turn on your fogs. HID's are supposed to draw a fairly small current once they're on i think. like a lot less than the regular halogen bulbs.

I am not sure if you are directing the questions toward me since this thread went off the cliff now. emoji But no, I wasn't able to figure it out on my own. All I know is, the problem is in the stock wiring somewhere. I don't want to deal with it by paying more money. I put back on the halogens and I'm selling the HID in the SALE SECTION. Later.

the problem was NOT related to the HID kit. he was very thorough in diagnosing the problem and isolating each individual component. he has a problem with his stock wiring. he has already swapped out ballasts and bulbs several times. electrical problems are a PITA to diagnose sometimes...

wish the kit would've worked out for you bro! emoji

as long as you buy the correct bulb size it'll plug right in. if you've got stock headlights it's 9006. if you've got single projectors it's H3 i belive (might be H4... i forget). if you've got dual projectors you're using your stock wiring harness so it's still 9006.

Hey thanx for helping that member out ^. emoji BUT to clarify the kit is 100% working. It's my car that's only working 50%. The Hanabi kit is very simple, plug and play. Easier than most cause we don't need a relay like others, two wires the ballast and bulb, you're done. And of all the guys that have it I have never heard a single complaint from anyone else. I was the plagued one. My car was in an accident last summer so, that more than likely is the problem. Cheap parts or some other defect, but I don't want to deal with it. So kit's for sale. emoji

BTW Here is a pic I never posted, at night!
