i went through and found an old post regarding H3 HID conversions which i am going to buy on Friday.

Jamesman reffered a site http://www.misterjung.com/ for his H3 HID conversions.

that site has 6k, 7k, and 7500 but no 8k
James - which do you have ^^^^

each one is a different color and lumun?

can someone please explain if the difference in K means brighter or just different color and which is recommended for me to get.

i have 97-99 projectors thats dimmer than a dying flashlight. I need something that i wont be pulled over for but at the same time will light up the road as bright as possible.

Please advise, i dont want to waste my money getting the wrong one. Which is recommended and why? should i look for 8k? or are these fine

hmm i just read this:

so, is it possible the 5200k kit since its a lower K is brighter?

im confused...which do you recommend?

remember this, the hotter you go, the more blue it usually is.<---learned during high school chemistry. so even though the mercedes and bmw's may look blue or purple and such, it's the light reflecting off the projector lens in their cars. so yes, that article makes perfect sense.

Your saying the higher it is, the hotter it is...does hotter always mean brighter or color is my question.

Does anyone know what the PIAA super plasma H3 lumuns are? cause i have them now, they are 5000k but dont light up the road at all.

The 5200K/8000K numbers are color temperature. The lower the number the cooler the temp. Color temperature is another way of saying color. Blue (5200K) light is the fastest and also the coolest temp, red (8000K) is the slowest and also the warmest temp. Sunlight on a nice clear day is rated at about 3200K.

Lumens (spelling?) are your power rating. It's calculated by distance projected and intensity at that distance. Think of an LED. You can't see far with an LED light (like if you were using it as a flashlight) but you can see it at a very long distance if you were looking at someone holding it. So it would have a high distance, but low intensity rating. A flashlight would have low distance but high intensity rating.

You're looking for the one that has the most distance to intensity ratio you can get And I don't know that formula.

now i just need to decide if i want the brighter, 5200k 3200 lumens (white) or the 6000k 3000 lumens (blueish/white tint)

any suggestions? will there be that much of a differenc in amount of light produced from a 3200 to a 3000 lumens?
