i'm not one for the flares..but heres a link to help u out=)..

check out this link.. has prices for diff. kinds of fender flares..
http://www.wholesalehyperformance.com/kits1-main.html

to mold em just depends on who u have mold it and what materials they use..

fiberglass is yr best choice..wont break off like bondo.but is a lot more expensive..

bondo will eentually crack and break off..

i dont know any other way to mold em.. i would go withthe first choice.. you will spend a lil more ..but be happier in the end.. =)

If the fender flares are molded in with fiberglass or bondo they will eventualy crack if they are on a car that is driven on a daily basis. I think I was told its around $1K to get them and have them molded on, but prices will vary largerly on the area you live in and the color of your car.

they wont crack if they are molded with fiberglass. (if its done right..) i have my whole kit fiberglassed and its my daily drive and u can jump on my rocker panels and they dont budge..but fiberglass is very expensive!!! but bondo will crack and crack the paint eventually too..

but like i said i'm not fond of the flairs.. but its yr car dude..do what u like=).. but take the sugg. and check out the kaminari kit.. they have it on that website i listed above. =)

good luck.. post pix when u get done whatever u plan to do=)

Not trying to sound like an ass BUT fiberglass will crack, using only bondo will obviously crack faster and more easly then fiberglass with a small finish layer of bondo . Fiberglass does not bond to metal very well I am not sure about your statement of jumpping on rocker panels but if you mold a bumper and hit it or kick it it will brake so over time it will crack because of all the vibrations from your car and the road. The time it takes to crack depends largery on the skill and knowledge of who ever did the work. Back on topic the kaminari kit looks good however unless you buy the whole kit its going to be a pain in the ass (aka $$$$$) to make the front and back bumpers wide enough for it to look right.

they use fiberglass but it will not last. If you even tap a curb your screwed and like stated twice before over time it will crack. Talk to some people that have had it done on here or that do body work and they will confirm this.

So if I get a body kit, I shouldn't waist my time and $$$$ getting them molded?

Molding all depends on the quality of the material and quality of the person. We molded my best friends widebody kit on his swapped CRX alomost 2 years ago and it still looks just as good as the day we finished it. It took us almost 3 weeks to do all the work, but we did it slow and made sure everything was perfect.

Here's another question for you:
If fiberglass cracks so easy, then how can some of the highest SPL hitters construct all fiberglass boxes and have them last? They are taking a beating alot, but they never crack or spider, HELL I've seen wooden boxes break before fiberglass ones.

as far as the topic goes.. dude .. if u want the flares go for it=).. hell its yr car.. i've had my share of my car being made fun of..but if u can handle that.. then do whta u like.. and screw everyone else.. (but a warning some wont like it and make fun of it).. although i wont be one=)..

as far as the figerglass.. i dont know what yr talkin bout.. u obviously dont know how to use it.. cause i've had my car over a year and a half and the skirts are glassed to the fenders..into the door jams..etc. and the guy building it took 6 months to make it right..and yes he did jump on them and they didnt budge.. the cars u see fallin apart are ones done with bodo or fiberglass that was molded to urathane.. it will stick to the metal just fine if u use the correct materials..but it will not stick to the urathane.. but its kewl.. u believe whatever u want=).. everyone is entitled to their own opinions .. but .. look at a truely molded fiberglass car.. you will see a diff. between professionally done glass and hack jobs

as stated above.... if you let fiberglass cure correctly then it will last... if it's not allowed to cure and mixed right it will crack.... it's all in the work.... if you want your car turned around in a week or two then your not gonna get goo work... most shops that do good fiber work ask you to put up your car for a month or more just to let the fiberglass cure inbetween applications....... good luck on the flares... i wish i had did it when i was doing my kit,,,

yes fender flares are a reason to get clowned on nowadays, personally fender flares suck, there cheap, most people dont install them right, and there just like altezzas everybody and there ma ma can get em.

as far as people making fun of you for having them, fuck em, if thas what you like than its all you. lisa, how many kits out there you know of that made in fiberglass, besides the blitz kit and a few others.most people in there right mind, wouldnt attempt to glass in urethane. molding in ground effects is mostly for show boys, that dont drive there car much anyways. your body man took 6 months to mold in your glass work? if i were u, id find another body man. my body man took 16 hours to mold in my blitz side skirts 2 years ago, and they lasted, with no cracks no blemishes, till i removed the. there is no hidden secrets in molding fiberglass, or doin fiber glass work, the formula is getting the correctly mixed resin, and laying the glass right. and of course sanding.

but as for flares, you roll up to the 306 strip in my town( mini car show, setup for races, hangout, known for some of the most top of the line and brutal imports in va.) you might get laughed off the block, its just the way the scene is nowadays.

well...methinks fender flares would look phat. I am actually pondering this idea, but who makes flare that we can slap on? I would rather not have to have a shitload of custom work done for them. Maybe i will ask when i order the rest of my kit emoji

Hey..

Does anyone know what does bushwacker flares for trucks are made of?

Those are pretty strong. I know that you have to drill holes, and these utilize bolts to hold it together to the fender.. but its not bad, if you can bondo over the littles holes.. right?

If somebody took 6 months to do body work to my car I would kick the living $hit out of them. I know all about glass and molding stuff I do ALL my own work and am realy good at it so do not tell me I don't know what I am talking about emoji I have been working with glass for a long ass time so once again I think I know enough. Also to the people that think you have to let it cure for days if it does not fully cure in a few hours it will never cure fully and always be weak. blah blah blah I am done with this topic too many people think they now shit when all they do is take there car to other people for all the work. you will never know anything unless YOU do ALL the work as all shops lie about what and how they due stuff you realy think they are going to tell you the truth *cough* it took 6 months because we had to let it cure *cough* try they screwed you over because they could. Flame away and good luck with your molded kits just don't cry when it breaks emoji As for the flares I whink they look good and wanted to do them over 2 years ago needless to say I am doing something else now. the truck flares are usualy made out of an abs plastic.

Please keep the flaming offline, as I don't want to have to lock anything.

As far as cracking, fiberglass will crack eventually depending on how you drive. Some of you may be lucky and it won't crack as long as you own your car. But obviously, fiberglass is not as strong as metal. If you scrape accidentally, you can crack it. I wouldn't recommend it for a daily driver, but its your choice...

ok this is long..read if u want.. =)

for all those having problems with the 6 month deal.. it took 6 months not only to do the kit. but strip the whole car down ..take out hte million dents the car had, and paint it too (includeig all jams).. not to mention, there are 2 gentelman who work at this shop (one is the owner). .. they were doing three cars at once, two of them wide body bimmers (325i and m3).. your more then welcome to look at the site.. they are also the only company in the usa who is allowed to sell the zeemax kits (not the knockoffs).. which means they obviously know what they are doing when it comes to fiberglass.
www.extremebodyconversions.com.
i also didnt have all the money up front..so as i could afford it, they worked on it, which is something most shops wont do.

if you have worked with fiberglass and it breaks on you., then its yr technique thats wrong. cause i live in CO where the weather fluctuates all the time, and theres big ass pot holes, etc and my kit hasnt cracked, yes if u buy a kit, (such as the blitz, or any of the many fiberglass kits) see at www.wholesalehyperformance.com , and you bottom you car on a dip, it will probly break or crack. Have any of you looked at how thin these kits are made of?? they make us pay quite a bit for some crummy material..
shoot, when i got my roof scoop in, i could actually see right through it, so it had to be reinforced with more fiberglass (and the kind they used on my car is what they actually make porches, and bimmer kits out of. If you actually saw the diff. you would then understand.) .. everyone has had diff. experiences with products, and one persons experiece might be better than anothers.. this is as far as i'm going to go

as far as being made fun of.. i personally wouldnt make fun of you for doin flares=).. cause if u like it who cares right? i know i've gotten a lot of sh*t because people dont like the wing i chose for my car ..or the rear bumper..but i dont care cause it looks nice.. besides i chose what i wanted for me and no one else=)Now eventhough i wouldnt do it myself..I will honestly tell u I had thought about it when i first was deciding on what kit i wanted, i actually wanted to widebody the rear, but didnt want the kaminari.. and thought the flares would be a cheaper way to go.. I decided if i went for speed which i am now doing, that extra weight of the widebody rearend isnt good for a front wheel drive car.. lol..

now saying all that, i have come to not like the way the flares look on most cars.. (probly cause of how they are put on most cars..haha) but there is an eclipes here in CO that has the flares in just the back..and it actualy looks pretty good. .. heres a pic.. (behind the girls..lol)

i'm sure you guys will continue to rag on me bout how my kit will break..blah blah blah.. but i know quality work was done on my car.. and i wasnt ripped off either..my car has been a daily driver since it came out of the shop, and nothing bad to report, if something ever happens, i will gladly post it=)

That car does have flares on the front. Look closely at the picture or look at these pics:

It’s part of Team Koncept Racing from Houston.

Well this is a nice topic... I am currently making my own widebody kit for my eclipse. This includes new front and back bumpers... And yes Im making it all out of fiberglass. Fiberglass is like anything else...you abuse it and it well break. I have a cell phone that I have dropped too much and now the 4 button doesnt work... Is it kyoceras fault that it doesnt take a beating? Not really. Its the idiot who dropped it (that would be me). Fiberglass is the best way to go and yes it wont "dent" like metal when you hit it... It well crack. Which means you go to pretty much any store buy some fibglass patch work, fix your car up, Touch up the paint, and dont do it again. No matter what its going to cost the same ammount to fix whether its a dent in the metal or a crack in the fiberglass... (if you are a do it yourselfer.)

Hey widebodied, tell me this MR2 doesn't look badass. And it looks hella better than the widebody kit you can buy for it.

They have a little more effect to the overall car than some altezzas do, like your comparison of flares and altezzas in your earlier post.
I also think it's hilarious how some people can get so ticked off by other peoples comments on this board, and cussing like hillbilly trailer trash from Virginia! I think people with negative numbers for feedback should be banned from this board. AAAAAHEMMMMM....
