#39781, "Who here has done their own bodywork?"

On my last car when i purchased my body kit i was scared to death to touch it. But after witnessing what he did i thought that with alittle effort on my part i could have accompished the same thing and saved $800. To all that have painted and mounted bodykits, how hard was the overall on a 1 - 10 scale with 10 being the hardest. Thanks....

It realy depends on the kit some fit almost perfect while others fit like crap. Mounting is not that hard as long as you don't get a realy cheap kit (ie one that will not fit good) however painting cannot be done without the right "tools" and it is alot more to buy the tools then to pay somebody else to do it.

Well actually i was pricing what i needed and it still came out cheaper then having someone else do it. Well i have the mentality of the only way to learn is to give it a shot. Who knows......I thought some of you painted your own kits and hoods.

I have been slowely working on my bodykit which I bought on Ebay. The bad thing was it fit like shit. The good thing is I have learned how to use fiberglass and its coming along pretty good with the exception of the rear having no chance of fitting (what a waste). I'm going to have a friend of mine paint it.

with the right skills you can make it fit..... body work is a trade and skill. Either your good at it or alot of pratice will make you good. If it's fiberglass is can be modified to fit anything. Never say it can't cause with cutting and laying new glass you will eventually get it. If you had seen my rear and side skirts you would have shit yourself. I orig thought there was no way to make it fit but we got it and i'm glad i did.

I molded my entire body kit myself. I molded the rear bumber and side skirts. I used coverte apoky, fiberglass bondo and rivits. Go to my web site and I have almost step by step to do it.
