I need some help installing some 97-99 side skirts on a 95 talon esi.

What is the best way to attach them to my car? Is there a web page on how to do this?

I have all 6 pieces. and if I need to use the plastic clips things where can I get some and how much should it cost?

Satan charges an arm, a leg and some internal organs for those clip things. When I got my TSI skirts, I needed a couple of plastic clips and it think it ran like 2 or 3 bucks for one. Chyrsler charges less then Mitsu in my area so you might get a price difference.

As for installation, Fusion (Abe) helped me install my skirts. I'll try to run thru what happened- i'm sure others will add to this...
You'll need the plastic clips, a drill, some drill bits (not sure about size smaller than the plastic clips, big enuff for them to fit thru), some paint to mark the car( we used white out), a whole bunch of self tapping screws, adhesive, some car paint and a floor jack and maybe a jackstand

We painted the clip holders inside of the skirt pieces and lined them up to the car, leaving circular paint marks .Then Abe drilled the holes for the plastic clips to go in. After that, we sprayed the drilled holes with car paint so it wont rust. Put the clips on skirt pieces, wipe off the markings on your car and carefully push the skirt pieces into the car

Afterwards, jack the car up and drill holes for the screws that go underneath the car and skirt pieces. Use the drill to screw in the tapping screws.

yea.. the link isnt working right now... maybe some issues with the updated forums... but basically what Danny95ESI said...

thats the way most of us did the process.... if you can get the gromets it makes it easier.. if not, no big deal, just use screws with washers. the hardest part is getting the side pieces to stick.. ive tried double sided tape.. no luck, but i used some heavy duty velcro.. and its worked great now for about a year.

It a paint issue. I call a local shop and they told me they wont paint them because they cant get the paint to stick. I was just wondering if you had to do something special or what?

WTF!?!? damn.. maybe you should take it to another shop bro... its just like painting a bumper i would imagine... just do the usual preping.. said it and primer it.. dont know how hard that could be.. marcus? any insight?

I dont know if youre still looking for the actual installation instructions because I didnt read replies, but heres what I did:

Ok. Doorcaps not included, youre on your own.

But ok. See the front piece of the side skirt? YOu see how theres 1 bolt hole that matches with the bolt on your car? Cool. Use that. Also, you want to drill a hole a little below it, a few inches, and put another bolt in there. Drill the hole in your car and your skirt piece obviously.

Ok now drill a whole on the underside of the front piece, towards the outside, near where it connects with the back piece. Drill it on the bottom pointing up, as far as you can towards the outside. Then drill all the way up into the car, and use a long bolt. Then of course the front of the back piece fits into the front piece around this point. On the back of the back piece drill two holes, 1 a few inches above the other. Im talking about in the wheel well, not on the visible part of the skirt. I did all of this and it was strong enough to stand on, though I wouldnt push down at all and don't plan trying it..... With this method, the bolts/screws are all not visible, unless youre looking closely inside the wheel well or have the car jacked up and are looking under it.

About paint, I spray painted mine until I could get a full paint job. Sounds ghetto eh? Oh well.

A paint shop is stupid if they cant make paint stick. Obviuously, the paint wont stick if you dont sand it down. The gloss on stock sides wont allow it to, at all. They cant sand it down??? I know if you go to earl scheib or maaco they will do it for like $75, and try their best to match it, no promises from me tho on places that cheap. Good luck! And trust me, skirts make a HUGE difference, its well worth the trouble and money.
