#38422, "Are Carobn Fiber Hoods Repairable?"

Some guy is trying to sell me his CF hood for really cheap because it is scratched and has a crack in the middle. Would having it repaired with fiberglass resin and having it painted help at all?

you can use a carbon fibre patch to repair it also. works the same way. Just find the right weave first. Just drill a relief hole at the each end of the crack and two step sand around the crack, fill the crack w/ microballoon or flux with resin and put the first patch on, then spread resin without the flux on the first patch, then reapeat with the second patch. The result should be the patch area is stronger then the rest of the hood. Just tap w/ a quarter after it's all done to see if there is any delamination. DONE..... Takes about two hours minus the drying time and about 30 bucks...
