I've done a lighting conversion on my '97 Eagle Talon ESI, using LED's for the turn signals and running lights. Yes, I've cut some wires to make the inside bulbs running lights and the outside bulbs only brake lights. The car looks much nicer, but they yellow has to go.

What is the best method of changing the color of the yellow to transparent red? I do wash the car 2-3 times per week, as I show it, so I need something that will hold up to the washings.

Please let me know what you've tried, if you have done this conversion.

Thanks in advance!

Get some tint spray, it looks nicer IMO emoji

Otherwise, I think there is a red transparent spray you can buy, not to sure but know some board members have it.

The cheapest and easiest way is what I did. A $5 can of Krylon Red Glass Stainer. Spray the amber part, and the red nearly matches the red of the brake lights.

I got banned for being a constant tard.

they look fully blacked out unless you get up real close in direct sunlight. Plus you still keep very close to stock brightness.

Just a word of advice, washing your car that much is very bad for the paint, and the clear coat.

here are some pics of mine, i redid them since these pics, i used krylon stained glass color paint (thanks 2 farmdogg for hookin me up with that). then i just gave it a few good clearcoat layers.

as for the letters i masked them off and cut around them for the red transperant paint. then i masked them off again, and cut around the letters out and painted with some silver car touch up paint. came out pretty good.

Not when you live in the Chicago area. The State of Illinois likes to ensure that no snow is on the ground, so there is enough salt to keep it that way.

We don't actually drive on asphalt or black-top. we drive on white-top roads!
