Right now my interior is all black leather and I want to give it a new look. I just want to paint the plastic parts around the hvac, cd player, center vents, ect. Can I remove the parts by them selfs or do I need to remove the entire dash? tia

You can pry the plastic pieces out with a small flat head but be really careful around the vents. Once you get the piece pulled away from the dash you can unplug the buttons and pull it out all the way. You might have to pull your deck to get at the piece around the hvac and din area.

i just did almost all my interior pieces this past weekend, i have an alpine head and i didnt need to take the head unit out, im not sure bout stock tho. the HVAC bezel pulls right out, the vents pull, but do it slowly. The bezel that covers the plastic that covers the speedo has 2 screws on the top, and 2 clips on the bottom, thattl pull out really easily. the bezel to the right of the drivers door will pull right out, but the buttons or dead buttons need to be removed, they are just held in by mini clips on the inside, you can undo those once the bezel is out. dont forget to prime and let every coat dry all the way or youll have to strip it, and do it all over again, just take your time, and youll be very happy with the results.

what does everyone use to paint them, and do you also put clearcoat on?

i use plastikote. for the clear coat i use the plastikote touchup clearcoat that is for the exterior. its more expensive but it holds up better. don't prime it, it chips more easily if you do. just lightly sand it then clean it with some prep-all(autozone). after that wipe it down with some 91% rubbing alcohol. the alcohol drys out the plastic so the paint will stick better

i used the same stuff as i did on the engine bay, headlights, and interior pieces. i used the high temp. engine enamel from any auto store. it's aluminum finish and required no clear coat. it looks really good. i'm happy with it.
