im not sure about virginia but even in NY where they are anal with that stuff, ive never had a problem passing with my 5% tint. In fact, i just passed for the fifth consecutive year today with the 5% tint.

I live in NC, and they have a special machine that tests your tint percentage. The legal limit here is 35%. If you have any darker than that, they will not pass you. But the inspections are different from state to state and county to county. I would suggest calling a local inspection station and ask them if they test for tint, and if they do, what the legal limit is. I'm sure they will help you out.

if your tint is illegal the only way you'll pass state inspection is on a hella bright & sunny day, other than that have fun getting your tint ripped off on the spot. Has happened to 2 friends that moved from MD to VA.
