Someone posted an awesome link where you can buy your factory color paint by the can, pint, quart, gallon, whatever you want.
My question is, how much paint will it take to do a whole car? I have a friend who owns a paint shop. He says if I can get the paint and give him a couple hundred bucks, along with helping him, he'll do it really really cheap.

i think it all depends on the quality of paint that you buy. i was talking to a paint guy about painting my roof, bumper, fiberglass wing, mirrors and door handles. i had already bought the paint but he said it was the cheaper stuff and would take about twice as many coats than this other stuff(cant remember what he called it). i would say get a gallon. you will need more than a quart, but buying a gallon might be cheaper than buying three quarts or whatever, and you will have some left over for if and when you want to get a new bumper or a body kit or need to touch something up. shouldnt your friend know if he owns a paint shop??
btw...what color are you going for? are you changing colors?

Same color. The girl who owned it before me didn't do a good job keeping it safe and it has lots of little scratches and stuff. Plus I'm gonna do the door handles, mirrors, get a new hoood, some fenders of some sort....things like that.
I haven't asked him yet...LOL...seems the most logical guy to ask doesn't it? Haha
