Can you give me a price on what your paint job costed?
-Like a color change (like Mr. Local Pimp)
Where you are located?
Where you got it done?
Can you post a pic of your car?
And can you get me a reciept?

You don't have to do all of them, but it would be real good..

Thanks

~Tacoman

you get what u pay for. You can get a different color for probably 500-600, but that probably won't get your door jams, etc. And it'll probably look like ass. Won't match all around, runs, foreign particles in the clear coat, etc. If you go to a good shop and get a nice paint job, door jams, etc painted, and everything, it'll show. Your car will be noticed, appreciated by u and others, and look very clean. You will pay more tho. The car will look a lot better tho. If you can't afford a good paint job, my best advice is to just save up and not go cheap. The car's paint is a major part of your car. If you go cheap there, your car will never be the same.

Put it this way. The paint materials alone will cost around 500 for good paint like PPG, Dupont, House of Kolour. Most quality paint jobs will be at least 2000. Some of the expensive shops in socal are charging 3500 nowadays. Typically, pay around 2500 or so for a good inside/out paint job.

I go tthe lowest deal from Maaco, $150. Add $30 for prepping and $25 or so for a dent.

They taped off terribly, and didnt follow instructoins well and painted my entire muffler. But once you fix these things, its ok.

The paint is flaking in certain curved areas.

I dont recommend Maaco. if you NEED a paintjob, like something bad happened then go to them. Or if you just cant afford anything else for the love of god, like me, then go to them.

I had my car painted previously at Earl Scheib. It cost $310 total. They did a great job service wise, taped perfect and just did an overall great job. However, it depends what paint you get. Their normal paints are very dull and do not shine at all, some of the worst looking cars you see come from Scheib. Scheib is known for fixing up old beaters that just need a new paint job to look half decent. However, they have "met" colors, standing for metallic. And what it is is like glittery colors. Now I dont mean gay or ghetto glittery, but a sparkly twist to it. They have blue, silver and red. If you pay the extra $40 for one of these met colors, its worth it. I got so many comments when I go the pewter met (silver). The only non-met color Scheib has that is halfway decent is their black.

Each place charges $40 PER door to have painted inside and extra for inside trunk and even more for engine compartment. I didnt do any of this.

Of course you can go else where and spend thousands and get a stock shine and gloss if you take your car very seriously and dont mess around.

I got banned for being a constant tard.

Exactly! IMO why ruin your stock paint job unless you're gonna get a higher quality one (ie. not maaco or earl sheib, but a real professional body shop using real paint). No offense to those that go the maaco route...

if u need a paint job and can't afford much, kewl. But if u just wanna change colors, don't go cheap. Better to wait and save $$$. My friend took his 92 or 93 ES 300 Lexus to maaco. He got the $600 range paint job. Went black and the grey section on the lexus is now silver. Looks really nice. He was too cheap to paint his door jams tho, so they are still white. emoji But they did a great job on the black. Looks really deep and shiny, but the rear has a few minor imperfections- but they can be wet sanded out easily. He is supposed to take it back and probably has by now to have that worked out. The maaco paint jobs that cost more aren't THAT bad. My gf called them about her civic and asked about the $200 one. The guy said, I wouldn't put that on an 82 cadillac. It's shitty. That was the guy's exact words. I was laughing like hell. She changed her mind when I cleaned her car for 3 hours. I used all my stuff and her new used car was shiny again. The previous owner didn't clean it and u could tell. I told her not to get it, but she wanted a new car after wrecking her 2000 civic hatch. Anyhow, I cleaned it, it looked good, and it rained that evening. emoji Some of you guys that think you need a paint job may just need to work ur ass off and clean it up really good.

do like dino. get a professional detail job. have it buffed out etc. Your car will probably look sweet, then just keep it washed and waxed. Wash it and dry it atleast once a week or every other week or something. Wax it like every other month or so. Dark cars are hard to keep clean, but with work, it will show that u can have a clean ride. Try that shit out man.
