When I hit about 75-80mph my moonroof lifts slightly and air starts to leak...also when the moonroof is all the way forward/down and the car is parked I am able to lift the moonroof.
Is there some sort of locking mechanism? is it difficult to fix? is this a common problem?

ive got the same type of problem, mine rattles when i hit a rough part of the road, and when closed, i can push it up a little bit. im pretty sure the torx type screws that are on the railing need to be tightened, just havent got around to doing it. ther are two screws on each sid of the moonroof. you might check those out.

I originally tightened the screws which worked for a little while but then it started up again. I had it checked and they said it looks like the flat sliders that rest in the moonroof track are worn down resulting in extra room for the moonroof to move/bouce. I wouldn't imagine it would be too hard to fix, just need new sliders. I don't know where to find them though. BTW I too have a 97 GS...I wonder if it's common with that year?
