man i really messed up last night. i was takin out all the stuff in the rear to start dynamatting all of it and got all but the 3 pieces out of the trunk. i got all the screws out that i could and found that on each side there were 2 screws behind the rear center piece. i was trying to get that damn center piece out and i thought it was friction fit so i just had to pull....well no i am the dumbass so i just start pulling DONT DO THIS!!!!
i ripped almost half of the bottom off hte center piece. you really cant see the rip but i know when i get my 3 rockford HX2's in there (12") or my 3 jl w3 that it will rattle. anyone know how to get that center piece off safely? also know where i cant get a grey one for a 97 talon?

thanks for the help guys (in advance)

There are 7 nuts you have to remove, at least on an Eclipse.

My bad. I think I know what your talking about, if you lay you seat down and look straight back - that piece. Yeah it just pops out.

Start with the bottom and pull it toward the front of the car, then after you have the bottom loose pull the whole thing upward toward the roof of the car. You shouldn't have any trouble, unless there are some differences between the Eclipse and Talon hatches that I'm not aware of.

i took mine out to check out the taillights. its a bitch because there are 2 huge white round clip thingys (tech term) that force you to bend the sides inward to get them out. the rest of the clips along the top are just those little metal ones that are in the rest of the car. no bolts at all. if you bend the sides of that pannel in and peak with a flashlight you will see what i am talking about.

aem cai
pacesetter headers
gs-t exhaust
red altezzas
rims, tires, and a bunch of other little stuff....that list is way too short....more will come!

Yeah I couldn't get mine out either, but then I found out how to get it out. Get rear ended by a F'N pickup. Then that sonbitch comes right out.

yeah those two little white screw things are a bitch to deal with.. I broke one off trying to get that center piece out... I spent like 40 min trying to figure out how to take it out and still broke one of them... hope I don't have to take it off again. emoji

yeah, its a pain, i'm trying to recall as acurately as possible hear...
first, you gotta unpop like 3 clips on the top of it, then, pull up the tire cover, take out the tire and all the junk in there and get yourself in there. now, if i were crutchfield, i would say to put a towel or something on the edje so you don't close yourself in emoji, but i don't think your THAT dumb, so just grab from the center and pull back very firmly, but pull straight back though, cause there's these two things (another tech term) that are like an inch long holding it there.

try finding the panel fromn a junkyard or s/one parting out a car, or maybe you can glue it somehow??
