Molding carbon fiber or fiberglass isn't very hard to do once you get the hang of it. It takes alot of time ,practice, and patience to make a piece look right. Carbon fibre and fiberglass have much of the same characteristics when molding them. When molding these matarial you're gonna work alot with epoxy and resins (like glue) and it can get very messy. You'll also need a place to keep the carbon fibre to set at the right temp too, and that can be a real hassel because, if it isn't at the right temp (around 80 degrees) it can warp and waste alot of your time. If you wanted to know the prices, it's about 50 bucks per sq. yard of carbon fiber and 20 bucks for fiberglass. And, if done correctly about 3 days to finish.
There's also carbon fibre pre preg material (like a carbon fiber sticker). These work without you needing the epoxy so it won't be messy, but you're gonna need other material like a bleeder and a huge ass oven. Pre Preg costes alot and must be refrigerated.
So.....um....it conclusion...if you really want a carbon fiber dash or trunk and have alot of time on your hands(and money) you should start practicing using fibreglass first and move up from there.. i suggust buying a messed-up boat and start doing rapairs to it, you'll learn real fast...or not...you know what...just dont bother...
take all the fun out of it and get all of it from there (i personally have never ordered anything from them, but theyve been mentioned several times in the forum). the prices they have are very cheap considering what they are.
or........ buy a lot of fiberglass and resin, release wax and rubber gloves and run around the house making molds of stuff till you get the hang of it. remember...dont put your resin in a plastic disposable cup! (huge spot on my parents driveway to prove it).

You can have it cheap, fast or good. Pick any two.
If you want it cheap and fast, it's not going to be good. If you want it cheap and good, it's not going to be fast. If you want it good and fast, it's not going to be cheap.
