#33689, "Tips for cleaning car???"

Ok guys. I've entered my car in a show on Saturday. I just had my paint job buffed and polished for the show, and because it REALLY needed it anyway. So the exterior is looking pretty good. But I need some tips for the interior and under the hood.

The interior is basically pretty clean. I would say my only real trouble spots are my floor mats. They obviously get daily abuse so they have some stains that may not come out. Should I clean them as best I can, or take them out for the show?

For under the hood, I've done a lot of work in the last week or so. I pulled out my fluid resevoirs and painted them, painted all the resevoir caps, had many pieces polished, and replaced all my stock bolts holding all the brackets on with nice shiny ones. My problem is, some of my polished parts have water spots on them now. Will those just rub off, or should I use water or wax or something to clean them?

Any other suggestions or tips for me?? I'll take LOTS of pics at the show and post a few of them next week.

TIA

water spots on painted surfaces are a bitch to get out. if you possibly can, re paint them. otherwise just get some metal polish and go to town. next time you wash your car, try to towl dry off the parts you know will spot next time. also if your engine bay is greasy at all, just use the foam de greaser in the can, works wonders. as far as the interior, for your floormats try steam cleaning them and using spot removers and stuff. be sure and rough up the carpet plenty. on the interior vinil use like armor all or something like that, but dont use the wipes. they leave behind little "fuzzies" that are hard to get rid of. hope this helps

take a roll of duct tape. Roll some around and use it to pick up excess crap in your carpet. Get flat black spray paint and paint the black stuff in the fender wells. Make sure it's clean under the hood more than anything, this is where a lot of the other cars lack lately around my area at shows.

for cleaning under the hood I would suggest using gunk foamy engine brite and then a coat of CD2 engine detailer. Looks good imo
also a clay bar should get out any water spots on the paint. For water spots on your windows use #0000 steel wool and glass cleaner for lube. As for the water spots on your polished engine parts, you should be able to use some metal polish to reshine those

Cool, thanks for the opinions guys! I'm gonna swing by an auto parts store on my way home and pick up some foamy engine degreaser and some Blue Magic so I can polish everything again before the show.

make sure you get the kind that says FOAMY on it. Gunk makes an engine brite and foamy engine brite. The foamy kind is alot better imo
