#33291, "places for Custom Interiors NY, NJ???"

hi everyone,

im hoping someone can help me here....

ive seen a place called Kreative Automotive Interiors which has done some nice work on cars but their in CA...im in NY... emoji they told me i could take every interior piece out, seats and all, and ship it to them and they could redo the entire inside for $1850

A) im new to all this fixing up my car, is that alot or to little?
b) that will cost me alot to ship back and forth, Does anyone know anywhere in NY or NJ, or somewhere drivable, that does custom interior work for Eclipses?

thanks
larry

Most interior jobs cost anywheres in excess of 1100-1500.

Do it yourself.

well im debating on that, i just dont want to mess it up.

if i do it myself, i read up on those forums you posted, i can handle re-wrapping anything with fabric, thats the easy part...same with replacing the carpet, seats...i can either just by covers or buy racing seats or have it redone in leather...its re-doing the actual plastic/vinyl whatever those hard pieces of the car are made of...

does anyone know, can oyu get racing seats that recline? and are they comfortable? i personalyl dont give a rats ass...but the GF will whip my arse if i replace the seat with something like sitting on a park bench heh

basically my question is about re-doing the plastic/vinyl/ thingys, ive heard two methods so far...either spray paint it, or re-wrap it in vinyl

a) is spray painting it a good idea? wont it flake eventually? who does spray paint hold up to say armor or something? do i have to sand an prime it? or just spray away

b) if i go with re-wrapping it in vinyl myself, err....wont that be hard? trying to make the vinyl the same shapes as the interior trims? and what kind of vinyl ? is there a specific brand of vinyl and place to get it?

someone please help and advise, im willing to save myself the extra $$ by doing it myself..i just need help and advice

can someone post alittle walkthrough or tell me what materials i should use?

yes... racing seats do come reclinable. they're damn nice too. that would be the only way i do racing seats. the non-reclinable's aren't that bad, but i wouldn't want to be limited. it all depends how much you are looking to spend for the seats. check out a quick search i did on eBay:

http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?cgiurl=http%3A%2F%2Fcgi.ebay.com%2Fws%2F&krd=1&from=R8&MfcISAPICommand=GetResult&ht=1&SortProperty=MetaEndSort&query=reclinable+seats

there are a few people on here that have the tenzo r's and the d.a.d's. heard good reviews about both from those on here that have them. sparco also makes some, but those are high end, and expensive. sparco, momo, corbeau, recaro, tenzo r, d.a.d., matrix, and obx are just some examples of people that make reclinables. word of advice, try to find a place that carries them and sit in them first to see if you like them. some might feel too tight in the kidney area for your taste. regarding painting, you CAN do this yourself if you have the time. with proper prepping, the paint WILL stick and you should have minimal problems. people on here have done write-ups on this, so do a quick search. SEM is the best paint to do your interior with, but it's a little expensive. you can find it here:
