How, first of all, do you get them out???

Second, how do you take them apart, and put them back together????

And to take the lights apart, you must put them in your kitchen baking oven and set to 300 degrees, for only 5 minutes. Then take them out and the sealant is now a sticky glue substance and just pry them apart with some flathead screwdrivers. To reseal them, but them back together and throw em back in the oven for another 5 min and stick them together real good. They will harden back up like before.


edit:> ignore all the bumper removal stuff and just skim to the part about removing the headlights. You do NOT have to take off the bumper to take off the lites. Hence the reason u have to take the lights off FIRST to remove the front bumper. This has been an ongoing argument over 2gnt for a while now.

while I do agree with the oven part, I usually do them for 200dg for about 10 minutes. It probably dosen't matter either way.

DO NOT LET ANY OF THE CLEAR PLASTIC PART OF YOUR HEADLIGHT HOUSING TOUCH ANY METAL SURFACE WHILE INSIDE THE OVEN!!!!!!!

I learned this lesson the hard way, and yes your headlights can melt if you mess up. go for about 250 for 7minutes......a compromise of^^^

No longer. You need to make sure and take the metal brackets that are along the seams of your headlights(4 each..I think) off before you put them in the oven,and make sure to have a butter knife or something ready to pry the headlights apart as soon as you take them out.

That said....it IS safe to do, I just got over confident and sloppy since this was not the first time I had done it.

dood u got it backwards. u dont have to take off the lights first to get the bumper off..that doesnt make sense. there are bolts to the headlight that are BEHIND the bumper. taking the headlights out before the bumper would require you to rup the bottom bolt out


u have to take off the bumper support to even get to the bottom bolt of the headlight without ripping it off.

i think fauch is right, i had to drill the back headlight bolt out because it wouldnt turn, bah if only i'd known

As far as the whole headlight vs bumper think I remember that its possible to remove the bumber without removing the headlights and I know its possible to get the headlights out without removing the bumper.

I found a way to open the headlight without having the hassle of blowdrying the glue and keep on doing it to get the glue to melt to pry. I found that placing the headlight into the oven is a fast and easy way. I did this and it is safe if you follow my directions. *you need a flathead screw driver, something to cut the glue with, silicon, and foil. Also maybe some reflective sticker step... 1) take off bumper 2) take out the two headlights 3) warm up oven temp to 200 4) put the foil in and headlight ontop (MAKE SURE TO TAKE OUT THE BLUBS FIRST !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) 5) wait till the glue starts to melt then take out the headlight. 6) start trying to pry open the headlight and cutting out the glue 7) once you get one part open use force to take apart the headlight 8)take out amber reflector or cover it with relective sticker. 9)take off all the old glue and put in new silicon and close up the headlight. 10)put everything back where it should go P.S. the glue from the headlight cools fast so you may have to place the headlight in the oven to warm it up again so leave the oven on BUT BE CAREFUL. The headlight will not be hot enough to burn you but should only be hot enough to melt the glue but watch your hands do not touch any part of the oven. DO NOT SET TEMP OF THE OVEN OVER 200!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! the headlight will melt!!!!!!!!!! Most people probably along with using the reflective tape for clearing out the amber lens (pending on the model) will paint the housing of the lamp to give it that even more custom look. Just be sure to use a high temperature paint first on the bottom layer to avoid cracking or fading. Then use whichever color you like. I used the factory black paint that my car is and it came out nice.
