Anyone know how it works? Is it nice? How hard is the install?

It's a novelty. You still need your key to start the car. miata.net has a walkthrough on how to make your own.

Yeah man, it's a cool little toy. Everybody loves it that's been in my car. The install for it is in the mods section on the maine page. Easy as pie.

Its more of a novelty/looks thing. Shit, you can buy a momentary push button at radio shack for like 1/10th of the price and still do the same exact thing.

I was looking at some of those momentary switches from radio shack and other electronic stores, the pros are all saying I shouldent use one to start my car...They are only set for about 5amps or so, the contacts wont be able to handle it and they will bridge...the button will be crap in no time...

Anyone here ever use a regular button? IE-Not one nesicarily designed for cars in mind.

As for non cheap-azz buttons, try one of these:

Since I moved my lighter outlet to where the ashtray was, and never got arount to reinstalling the <rice>Ignited starter button</rice>, I had a nice empty hole in the console. Interestingly, it is actually hard to find momentary push-button switches that fit in a 1" hole. Most in that range are about 0.8" or 1.125". So, spent a little more than I wanted but am wholly (hehe) satisfied with what I got, a stainless steel one from Bulgin. In particular, model MP0027/2:
