and they seam to scratch really easy....Do you all clear coat over the top of the paint??

I will post some pics when I am done...But it will pretty much look like everyone elses. Its silver on black.

IMO, you can never use enough clear coat.......Clear coat the fizuck out o everything.....Then it also looks all shiny when its clean That's my opinion, i know others will say different but some will also agree.

Make sure you clean your panels really good and try not to touch them because the oils on your hands will get on the panels and the paint will not stick as well. If you use 800 grit wet sand paper real lightly and then clean really good with soap and water and also you can use rubbing alcohol as well to clean it. Let dry and paint with real light coats...letting each coat dry about 3 to 5 minutes in between coats. Apply till completely coated. To give it some more protection you can use a clear coat...again use light coats. apply till you are satisfied with your panel and let it sit over night. Don't go getting carried away and put it in as soon as its dry. Let it sit over night to set up a bit. I'll do a more in detail write up after I get home and post the link here in the things we've seen before section. This topic comes up a lot so im gonna take the initiative and do my part. silver/black the best combo in da world, lol. Anyway, what paint are you using? Most will agreee that SEM is the best.

About the clearcoat thing, i had a problem uysing clearcoat the first time i painted and had the white/blue combo. For some reason, all my panels got real sticky.

So when i repainted it to black/silver i didnt use any clearcoat and nothing is sticky. I dont know if this was becaise of the paint i used (the first time i didnt use SEM) or too much clearcoat or what. Jes lettin ya know my expreince.

I don't have a pic to post..but I have the "burgandy" car with Black and Tan interior...I did some accenting that matched the outside and cleared the living shit out of it. No stickiness, no bubbles or anything. Just shiny and great!

Thanks guys....I might try clearing just one of the pieces this evening..... We will see what happens!

i used SEM and clear coat on my plastic peices...worked great. there are different types of clear coat, try a satin clear, that should work. SEM does sell a clear coat too. good luck!

I just used regular old krylon paint for mine. First I sanded down every piece to where it was completely smooth and then I washed each piece, primered and sanded, primered and sanded, and primered and sanded again. Then I put on several coats of krylon. I then let each piece sit for several days to harden. The only pieces I had a problem with chipping was the air vents on the doors. What a tight fit! Well good luck with anyway you go!

i just got through painting and re installing my peices and it looks great. i have the grey interior, and i painted some of the stuff silver, not as good as black on silver, but pretty damm close, i love it!

Well when I posted this I had just painted my interior pices without sanding them and it looked pretty good. Tonight I took them back out and sanded them until smooth and repainted and cleared them and WOW what a difference. They look sooo good now!!

I can tell with the clear on there it made them alot more scratch resistant. Even did my speaker grill on one of the doors...kindof a pain in the ass to tape off though but it turned out good. All I have left is the drivers door and the rear speaker grills and I will be done.

Hopefully will finish this weekend and post some pics.
