Hey, i'm looking for some feedback on painting/dying my interior - I tried vinyl paint, but it's cracking at the slightest flex, even after good prep work (washing with dish soap, wet sanding, and primer). Has anyone painted or dyed their interior before, and can anyone offer suggestions? I'm trying to change the light grey vinyl to white, and am having no luck. Would a regular enamel spray work? How about paint for polycarbonate, that is designed to flex? I'd definitely appreciate some feedback, am trying to finish up this 2 week(aka 4 month) project, and I thank you in advance.

I had the sam problem with vinyl dye, so I used plastikote body shop paint on everything. primed the plastic, and just cleaned the vinyl really well. came out really nice. but the stuff is pretty thick, so make sure you get it right the first time, cuz its a bitch to get off once it's on there.

i had no probs, just went to the autoparts store and get white and navy vinyl paintone brand was platikote, the other was dupicolr? it is fine now, 4 summer months in. and what part of your interior flexes? no you can't use regular paint, it won't stick. it WILL bubble off and peel and all kinds of ghey stuff. but if you want a really wierd color that you can't find vinyl paint in, like bright-ass blue, do it in a color close to it, for me navy blue was closest available, and then get REALLY good paint and go over that. Krylon is the shiznit. i have had no probs whatsoever with this setup, and i live in FL so it has been exposed to heat ad suck. plus, the white makes the car a lot cooler (temperature and appearance).

yup, word of advise for anyone wanting to do their dash in white or some bright color. Get something to put over you dash while driving or its really hard to see out the window.

I used SEM vinyl dye on my dash with no problems. Just cleaned it with alcohal and sprayed it on.

Yes you can use regular paint but if you decide to use it I recommend that you use primer first. belive it or not the regular paint stick to the vinyl.

i used SEM "sand free" to prep, then SEM vinyl paint. no cracking or flexing at all on the dash.

Krylon paint is not good for the vinyl and platikote and dupicolr were good for vinyl right?

plasticoat and duplicolor both make a vinyl/fabric dye. I've used the dupicolor on my seats and it worked very nicely
