#28645, "I have a question about insurance claims???"

I just got my wing stolen off my car last night and I called the cops and made a report and he gave me the number to give to the insurance company. Now What do you think is gonna happen. If I have $50 dollar deductable will the insurance company pay to have the wing replaced and the truck painted where they scratched it??? I'm just so pissed off right now. Someone let me know what to expect here. tia

Yeah they will fix all the damage and replace the wing. You only have a $50 deductible?

Yes $50 deductable for the comprehensive My collision is $500 though...Also could someone point me in the direction of a good car alarm. Prefereably one with the paramater sensors. If you know of someone who is selling one for a good price or know of a place online that sells them for a reasonable price I would really appriciate it. thx again.

A lot of people I know have Aladdin 2000 or something..it's a perimeter alarm..i think it was either like 250 or 400 for the kit..the keychain is like very high tech and shows a diagram of the car and what part someone is near that is activating the alarm..it also has an auto starter to start the car..it's quite nice. You can try ebay..I think my friend said it was imported or something..he got it off ebay and had some shop hook it up for him..hope this helps

You can get an Alpine too. The proximity sensors work really good on them.

Dude! get one of those alarms that they sell in Germany. You know the ones that shoot flames out the side of your car. Those things are awesome!

If your ins covers modified parts, then what they'll do is get the quote to fix it, say for example it's $400 which includes new wing and paint et al, then they take out $50 for your deductable. So you'll get $350 to get your car fixed.

What I mean about modified parts, and please correct me if I'm wrong, is that some INs companies don't and will not ins cars that are heavily modified. I know several places that wouldn't even ins me because my car is lowered....

Well I called the insurance company today with the police report number I filed for on Sunday(Insurance companys should be open on Sundays IMO...we pay them enough!). NE way the Insurance company gave me the claim number along with an 800 number to call to get it appraised. I call the 800 number and this chic asks me questions for like 10 minutes(She sounded hot so I was willing). After its all said and done she makes me an appointment at a local shop of my choice that I selected from the list she gave me to get it appraised. So my appointment is this wednesday at 1:00pm. After I get the appraisal I can then get it repaired anywhere of my liking(within reason and the appraisal amount)of course. I'll give you all the low down after I get it appraised on weds. An post the repair pics after completion...

Call your ins contact back and make sure the check also has hidden damage clause. Meaning, if the shop you take it to finds damage other than what the appraisor(sp) finds the shop will then need to call your ins to get the extra cash. If there is no hidden dammage, then anything extra the shop potentially finds they need to fix, meaning it costs more than what the ins gave you, it comes out of your pocket.

For example, you get $400 to replace wing, paint etc (I know it probably cost more but this is an example). You take it to the shop which takes apart your trunk and rear end and find some extra damage resulting in the need to replace your trunk lid, adding on another $200. No without that Hidden Damage clause, that extra $200 comes out of your pocket. With the clause, the shop just calls the Ins co to get them to cut them another check for the extra $200...

Check this out I just got a call today from my insurance company and the guy I talked to said that the chic I talked to didn't know what she was talking about and that my appointment on weds to get the appraisal is canceled. Then he goes on to tell me I have an appointment on Mon the 19th at the insurance company to get it appraised. This is getting to be a great big hassel. Why do I have to wait till Monday its gonna take like to fricken 2 seconds to say ok this is how much we'll give yah. Yah know...for the love of pete. I guess golfing comes first. Ok just wanted to vent a little.
