Everyone knows the power to weight ratio, so what can really be done to remove as much weight as possible. I am talking about getting the RS 2700lb curb weight down to like 2400- 2500. I already pulled out my jack and spare tire and have stripped out the back for weight. What can I do to make this car lighter?

check my website for the weight of all my reduction weights, i got like 200lbs i think. i believe the airbags were 9 lbs passenger and 8 lbs driver including the steering wheel, so maybe 6 pounds when you figure in the new steering wheel without the airbag. unsprung weight is the key, you will notice the most difference by getting much lighter wheels. the stockers weigh like 26 lbs so a set of forged wheels (expensive but under 10 lbs) will not only save you over 50 pounds by themselves, it will all be unsprung weight, you wil notice a much bigger difference. changing the pulleys is also one of the better ways because it is lighter as well as smaller. it creates power not conisdering its weight

Depends on how nuts you want to get. Replace body parts with fiberglass. Remove passenger seat, seat belts(except yours), All interior trim, remove radio, speakers, air bags, carpeting sound deadening material, A/C and all it's hardware I've never seem them for our cars but I've seen replacing your windows with plexiglass. replace power accessories with manual ones(i.e. windows mirrors)

All depends on what you intend for the car.

I would just like the car to be a lot lighter than it is, there are guys here in FL that have N/A Civic Hatches that beat mustangs because the weight makes a lot of difference. I just know that this car we have could be a lot faster if it didn't weigh so much.

I say, don't concentrate on just your car. Go on a diet. If you lose like 50lbs yourself, then thats a good start. Don't wear any cloths, drive naked. That right there will save you like 6lbs. oh ya, cut your hair, or in fact, even better, shave it all off. You'd be down like 60lbs if you do all that:-) lol...just kidding

I use to have a White 99 GS Sport with a Star Stage II Ball Bearing T3/T4 turbo...it was fun untill....well those who remember me know Oh Ya...this is what I have now... a 99' GSX...

If u drag race, you can remove all seats except yours. AC, and all audio. Power steering. E-brake(unless u wanna burn out). Headlights, tail lights. ALl interior trim. Take out plastic fenderwells. Any un-needed bolts or brackets left.

i have to disagree on the lights and plastic fenderwells. these are so light it isnt worth the trouble unless you are never putting them back on or unless you dont mind pulling rocks out of your engine bay ever day beause removing the fenderwells will leave you rock puddles as well as throw rocks into the radiator fans. i got more weight in just the bolts for the stock seatbelts than the weight of one headlight.

extreme motor sports has a light weight bumper replacement. not like a body kit but the bumper itself. all it does is hold the nose of the car on with some clips so its probably not street legal but if you dont mind some extra danger you will shave >50 lbs

well if you think about it the udp is a reduction and removing the a/c line and compressor is about 75 off maybe more with the wiring !! carbon fiber hood is a plus..

YES, definately remove the front and rear reinforcement bars (the creme yellow bars behind the bumpers) i took off 26 lbs this way and i really cant see any help these would have in a collision because they are solid pieces, not padded for impact resistance, all they would do is keep the metal brackets that hold them up from slicing through the bumper in a collision, but if you crash that hard, your radiator and motor are concern #1, not your bumper (which would be trashed either way)
