i want the look of a fiberglass dash, but i dont want a complete fiberglass dash. is there anyway i can lay fiberglass on top of the original dash and let it cure on there? somebody said i could put a few layers of urethane on it, but im worried about flexing and the paint adhering to it. thanks guys

I’m not sure how it’s usually done, but if I were going to do it I would strip all the vinyl and foam off the dash and start from there. That way you don’t have to worry about it flexing. It would probably be a good idea to get a spare dash out of a salvage yard to experiment on.

The fiberglass dashes that I’ve seen look great, but I’d be afraid to do it to my car because the glare would be incredible. You’d end up having to drive around with a towel or cheesy carpet dash cover during the day.

Well someone did a small write up on this a while back i forget where. but yes you do lay urethane down, but it's hard to work with. I did it on a few peices kinda like body work lots of sanding. if u ever done it before. Also my friend just sanded his dash and used car paint it looked like fiberglass but i'm think over time it's going to crack off. search the past posts it's in here somewhere.

You can do it with fiberglass and wrap it in vinyl. It pretty much should be a complete fiberglass dash as one huge piece. Here is my friend's car with fiberglass dash, covered in vinyl. I think you can cut out the parts you want to modify, but use the original stock dash as a template so it still connects right at the edges etc.
