#27956, "would door poppers w/ out shaved handles be dumb?"

Hey, I know shaved door handles is illegal (at least where i live), well, I wanna put the door poppers on my doors. I know it sounds dumb but I think it would be pretty cool and inexpensive. Please dont reply telling me to just shave the handles b/c i wont do that. lol. I dont wanna be stuck w/ my doors locked and a dead solenoid battery. So please tell me if this would be cool. Thanks.

I thought about this idea as well....seems like a good idea...although I know nothing about door poppers. It just seems good to me because after I replace my door handles I don't want to really risk breaking another one and if poppers can solve that...then that might be the way to go whenever I get the money for it.

Anybody know how much a popper kit is, is it self-install, etc...?

Thanks

P.S. - Why does it seem like I'm the only one on here replying lately? lol

Keyless entry would be better imo. Door poppers would be pointless, more expensive, and I bet you would find yourself opening the door with the handle anyways, instead of the edge of the door. People would probly ask, "Why do you have door poppers, when you could just use the handle?" Then you'd have to explain to everyone!
I'm now saying you're idea is bad either, I'm not a dick, I swear! Just my opinion.
Shaved door handles are illegal?? I would think if you had a hidden latch somewhere it would be ok. Damn Po Po's!!

im not sure but i dont think they're illegal, i know you cant go to the track with them though....its a saftey issue. and its a good idea if you have time on your hands. I think it would help not to break door handles but its a little extreme. get them cuz they're cool not as an alternative to breaking the door handles. just be careful. just my 2.

don't think i'm insane either but i thought about this months after my door handle broke. the dealer fixed it and everything but if this happens again, i thought of not shaving the handle, but putting door poppers in. then i'd just have the broken handle permanently attached and unable to be moved. i handles can be used to open the door once the poppers have done there job. i hope i've made some sense...

I would think that you could have the poppers wired with a safety check through the door locks or security system... remote unlock the car...which activates the remote for the door poppers so they can be initiated if you need to, if doors are locked, then the popper remote would be bypassed(sp)?

I would sure rather invest in poppers one time, than new door handles plus repaint every 6 months.

They are illegal b/c if you get into a wreck or something, they wont be able to get you out of the car....which I think is REALY dumb b/c they wouldnt be able to get you out if you had your doors locked...
Anyways, I think they are illegal in almost everystate. My frinds has them on his civic and he got 4 tickets. He eventually sold switched the doors for ones w/ handles. Hope that helps.

shave the handles, and get a decal that looks like a door handle so the cops won't notice from far away. If they really needed to get u out, you have windows, and glass breaks.
