not that i plan on doing this anytime soon, but i'm just trying to find out a little more info:
what's the price range you guys have seen (best/worst?). i've seen some ppl asking for only $140, while others ask for $380 because we've got a hb. buahahahaha!
for those of you in maryland, how dark can we legally go?
does window tint actually help keep the interior cool? after speaking with kahn, i would think the dark glass would just act to absorb sunlight, even though it's darker inside (it's those old science shows i watched as a kid). i like the look, but it gets hot and humid as hell out here in the summer. what about that ghetto mirror tint? that any better?

I paid $125 for my tints, and i got 20% hatch and 35% sides. What i really like about the tints is that whenever there is a truck behind me with high lights, it doesnt blind me from the mirrors.- didnt really notice anything with the heat/sun blockage, but it sounds logical because it doesnt allow as much sunlight into the car- as for the mirror tint, where i live (CT), the half mirror/half black tint is very popular, however i dont like it- its all a matter of preference/personal taste.

well i know this doesnt apply to you, but down here in Daytona Beach, my family and I get our cars tinted at a place for 80 bucks, and 20% tint all around. 10 dollars extra for the piece on top of the windshield.

Yes it keeps your interior cooler. I live in Oklahoma and the temps hit triple digits all the time in the summer and there's no way I'd drive a car without tint. Plus it helps to keep your interior from fading. I've had a few cars tinted and never paid more than $150.

I've got my back three done and it cost me $140. It has a layer of aluminum in it which is supposd to help with the whole heat thing. Just a warning, if you have the integrated antenna in your hb glass that aluminum tint is gonna kill your reception. I can't even use my cell phone in my car without it affecting my reception.

i paid around 150 for mine, 20% on back and 35% metal finish on the sides, i feel i paid too much, as one month later, a mutual friend who ownes a tint/stereo shop offered to do it for free. ive seen his work, it looks good, but anyway, see if you can find a friend who knows a friend....etc, who can do it for you for a case of beer or something. youre really only paying for labor anyway. the material is very cheap from what ive been told.

I'm from MD, and I believe the legal tint limit is like 35%. I personally have 32% Quantum Tint (has a sorta mirror look to it, like it ALOT). Cost like 200 or so.

Damn North Dakota is expensive for tinting. Its like $180 just for rear window and like $60 for the little windows. And another $100 each for the sides. Not too much sun here so I guess they charge more to make up for lack of tinters. ICQ #2199879 AOL - EvuLFleA stillk@geocites.com

I live in Michigan (yeah, it sucks) and everywhere around here charged $200.
Some shops were better than others... DEFINITELY check on reputation because our windows have the 'dots' around the edge of the rear 3 windows and some places will make sure they're pressed and others will tell you 'they'll do what they can do'. I had one place do it that guaranteed their work and they messed it up pretty bad... even had a few creases in middle of the hatch-window.
I paid $200 overall for 5% BLACK tint all the way around including a 6 inch sunband on the windshield.

is the 5% - 20% hard to see out of? do you think i'd get into trouble with the law if i tinted the entire front windshield like 50%? i can't stand the look when all are tinted but the front.
#2747, "RE: window tinting" In response to Reply # 12
you dont want to tint your windshield, at night, your vision will be seriously impaired. i know tint is made to be seen through one-way, but even at 50% your still looking into the dark.
#2749, "RE: window tinting" In response to Reply # 12
If you tint the Windshield, you would DEFINITELY get pulled over because a cop couldn't see into the car at all. With my 5% everywhere including the sunband, unless I have the sunroof open, the only thing you can really see is my hand on the wheel from the outside...
Also, it WOULD be pretty difficult to see out of at night, but I don't know exactly how difficult. I was thinking of doing it because I hate oncoming headlights when driving at night, but I know I would get pulled over then and then have to take off not only the windshield, but also my side windows... and replacing all that gets expensive.

I did mine in Houston for about $140. Whatever you do, make sure you find a place with a lifetime warranty, because the tint will eventually bubble up.

I just got my windows done today. I spent 110 for all the windows. My back window and the 2 small windows are at 5% and the front 2 windows are at 20%.
#2753, "RE: window tinting" In response to Reply # 18
I have 35% all around. I want 20% mirror tint and 2.5% on the back sides. I though of something else I never saw b4. What if you got limo tint and took it to a vinyl graphics place and had a mitsu symbol cut into it, then centerd it on the windows, put it on, then put mirror tint behind it??? Silver tint with a black mitsu symbol? Maybe? Does anyone know?
