#2686, "DO I have teh wrong Gauges for my GS"

LAST EDITED ON 02-Apr-01 AT 01:55 PM (PST)

I have the 99 Eclipse Sport Ed. It didn't really occur to me till I got this email from a place I bought my Indiglo Gauges from. I know the Sport came with the turbo's spoiler but did it also come with the Guages?? I ordered some Indiglo's from this guy for my 99 GS Manual and the Rpms I got only went to 8. Well the ones currenlty in my car go up to 9. So I emailed him back to check to see if I got the wrong gauges.. he infromed me the only ones that go up to 9 are the Turbo's. Is this correct?

When they made the guage faces they gave all NT's a automatic red line and didn't differenciate between auto and manual. I Wyatt was able to get whoever he baaught them form to send him a tach from a turbo set the guy had. I would talk to the guy and tell him you want a tach that reads right, if he doesn't like it then return them and find somebody who will work with you.

Well, the redline is 7,000 on a GS-T, so you don't need 9,000 RPM's anyways.

How does this effect my Rpms and shifting then? Since the gauge will not sit the same way, Am I shifting to early or to late or is it the same and I should stop being a little bitch about it;)

You're not being a little bitch I would want my gauge to read right, and if/when I get indiglos I'm going to make sure they are right or I'm not getting them.

You'll have the same sweep of the gauge but less rpm so you will read high on the gauge. I don't know how much off but but for expample if your gauge says 7000 it would be more like 6500. You get the idea?

The redline is different between a manual and an automatic. I have an auto and it's 6,500...isn't the manual 7,000?????

Actually on the indiglos, the reading will be LOW if you have a manual. 6500 redline on the indiglo is about equal to 7000 rpm's on the manual tranny (ask Skrilla). Also, they only make the gauges for the auto rpm. I doubt any shop would send the gs-t rpm guage without you buying both sets. By sending the gs-t rpm gauge, the rest of that gs-t set is useless, and they can't sell it anymore. That's like selling two indiglo sets for the price of one...
