Technically, in CA they can impound your car on the spot. It's against the law for safety reasons. You have to hope they don't see it. One of my friends regrets it and wants to trade someone doors now (he has a civic though).

I know its illegal in virginia because something about that somebody wouldnt be able to get you out in case of an emergency. but isnt that the same thing as locking your door?

I thought I read somewhere about using door poppers and having an emergency popper trigger under the body of the vehicle near the doors to pop the doors open if you lose your remote and have the vehicle unlocked. (?????)

i got pulled over many times in my truck with the shaved handles and no one ever told me anything.

Its not illegal, I do not believe. There is no reason why it should. Like eveyone said...bust a window.

I did a bit of searching but couldn't find the exact law. I found a lot of posts from other forums though. Like others said, it's mainly due to the safety issue and also someone mentioned about the police being able to easily get you out. I know it doesn't make too much sense, but I'm pretty sure it is illegal since most people I know around socal say it's illegal. My friend is scared enough to want to get rid of his shaved door handles.
