As the subject says, i put in my indiglos tonight, which was a piece of cake. I took it around the block to see how the gauges are working. But the speedometer isn't moving at all,and also the needle is really dim. The Gas needle is dim as well, but I can't tell if that isn't working until i drive for a while and burn up some gas. I said fuck it and i will try to fix it tomorrow, but in the meantime anyone know why it is all screwed up?

Sounds like you busted something inside. I know the needles are sensitive, if you were twisting them you could have possably busted it and will need to replace the internals. Im not so sure though id have to look at them myself..

My gas gauge didn't work after I installed my gauges. It turned out the indiglo was pressing up against the needle and that's why it wasn't working. I had to trim the gauges a bit and then placed some double sided tape to keep them down.

2 sided tape, or clear epoxy for the back of the gauge faces. I used clear epoxy, and they are flat as the original gauges almost. No problems. On the gas/ oil temp, make sure the pivot point of the needle is in the middle, and not rubbing any, or it will get stuck. Do the same for the tach/speedometer. Make sure they are flat and right, then epoxy them down or use 2 sided tape if u don't have steady hands. The epoxy will not setup for a few, so it gives time to move them some. And that stuff dries and basically turns to a plastic "mold" I used it on my tail light covers to ensure they don't fly off, and they haven't even thought about moving.

What are the chances it's something internal like 99eclipse says? Will slight movement of the needles during install play a big factor in fucking them up? I did my damnedest not to move it but the odometer reset thing and the needle rest got in the way and i moved the speedomoeter needle almost the whole range on the gauge when i slipped the other over. Also I have to take care of some other things today so i won't be able to fix it immediately, will there be damage if the needles are in fact being kept from moving by the gauge faces for a few hours before i get a chance to fix them? TIA

Na I pulled my needle on the speedo up to about 60mph when I put mine on just to get at it better. It should not affect it. Should just be rubbing on it or a wire from the indiglos is catching it. I had the same problem with my gas neede and then my engine temp needle. Just take a look at em and make sure everything is outta tha way. I also took my speedo needle off the first time i put on the guages and it was off by 40mph. I drove around listening to when I knew the engine was at a 50mph and put the needle back on. Works fine. Just check to make sure its not snagged.

I just got done fucking with it. Still not moving. I positioned the overlay and it isn't rubbing on anything. Did any of you remove the speedometer and tach when you did it? that is what i did, and i noticed that there is a washer on the screws on the back that were under the plastic part of the circuit thing and when i unscrewed it it came from under neath, now they are back in it is on top of the plastic and not actual touching the circuit anymore. I thought that might be the problem, maybe i am not completing a circuit or something. But if that was the case my tach should be doing that to which it isn't. All the others work fine. Also the odometers aren't rolling either and the needle is very dim compared to the others...i guess i will go at it again and see what is up.

when i put in my import intelligence needle kit i had to take off all the needles. Put the tach needle and the speedometer needle on so that they point directly south. Make sure you push down the needle so that it is pointing that direction, don't rest it on the silver needle and move it then push it down, that is bad mmmkay? That should be the calibration point. Now take each of the needles and carefully spin them to the left and gently lift them over the black stopper. They should be all set. Take it for a ride to see if they are off or not. As for the gas gauge, i suggest taking a spin to the gas station and filling your gas tank, then put the needle on full when you get back in the car. When you get back home put your engine temp needle right in the middle as it should be warm by then. That's what i did for mine and they now work perfect, so good luck and feel free to ask any questions.

Thanks guys for all the help. i got it fixed a couple minutes ago. What had happened was the wire from the gas gauge was underneath the speedomotor circuit board...so i think the plastic from the wire insulated any kind of signal thus not completing the circuit. So I removed the speedometer and got that damn wire from under there, and now it works fine. Geez, what a knucklehead I am.. emoji
