Good chameleon paint usually costs 2000 dollars for enough to paint the whole car. To give you an idea, when my friend wanted to buy paint directly from lexus, it was 1000 dollars a gallon. Chameleon should be worth at least as much. But do NOT waste such good paint on a shop like maaco. Go to real pros.

wow so i should probably jump on this she got all the stuff sponsored and she just has it sitting around she gave me a rough estimate of $400 for the 2 gallons she has left (just so she can buy a wing) since she didnt pay for any of it. How much does it cost to bring your own paint to a shop and have them spray it>?

Depends on the shop and if you are gonna do all the prep work yourself. I would recommend prepping the car yourself, you will save money and you will be reassured that the prep work is done to your liking. If you want I can do a write-up for you on how to prep the car correctly if your interested in that route. If not look around and don't be in a hurry especially with paint of that caliber. good luck.

Well if you never prepped a car before, I think that you should let the pros do it. I don't see how an individual can do it better than pros can, unless you go to a cheap shop that does bad body work. Ripples in the bondo are hard to see and take care of unless you are a pro. 2 gallons is a LOT of paint. I think you should only need one gallon unless chameleon really requires a lot. Figure paying around 1500 or so for a full paint job if you bring the paint to a good shop and let them prep it.

Well let me put it to u this way.... u want to take it to a good shop, because its very very very hard to spray cameleon paint, I know a lot of shops wont even do it. It has to be sprayed just so... or it wont turn out right, one spot will be heavier in one color or another. on the other hand cameleon does usually run near 1000 a gallon, but Im pretty sure u only need about 1gal to paint ur car. How come ur friend has so much left over? did they stirp the whole car? engine bay and interior? anyways, if she will sell u the two gallons for 400 see if u can get a buyer for the other gal if they will pay like 5-600 then u got free paint and made money... but u still need to get reducer, and hardener and other stuff. but if u can't get another buyer see if she will just sell u 1gal. and save urself some more money for the expensive price its gonna cost to spray it.

ya true thanks alot jeff didnt even think of that. The reason she has so much left over is that her car is yellow and they were gonna do a full color swap but instead they just did graphics around the whole car in the kameloean color, so she has all the paint left over. as far as me preping my self haha i cant take a bolt out nevermind prep a car ill leave that to the pros thanks alot guys hopefully everything works out good

a1eyed1der,

You sound a lot like me. I can't work the body if my life depended on it! Looks like we need the same work done. Same kit and all. If you do need a buyer for that paint lemme know. Sounds sweet. Got any pics of that color. i'll pay half of the 400 + Shipping, if you want to take it off your hands. By the way, like the car and keep it up.

Hit me back,
