simple green its a spray works good then i put armoral on the black areas and the chrome areas get mothers mag and aluminum polish. and also a little elbow grease

yup that's what i do sometimes i get a degreaser like gunk and cover my wires and power wash them off.

plus once everything is cleaned you can either use wd-40 or pledge on the plastics and other stuff to shine them up....
