#25734, "door open switch for trunk"

Something is wrong with the switch that senses the trunk being open. when I pop my trunk the door open light doesnt come on and will come on sometimes when its completely open and wont at others. Its pissing me off cuz when it chooses to be non functional at night I cant find what im looking for (the trunk light wont come on). If it is a faulty switch how do I replace it?? TIA

You should be able to take it apart and clean the contacts in the switch

There is a light in the trunk though that should come on when the trunk is open. I'm sure that's what he's talking about, not the dome lights inside the car.

Check the switch, wires and connectors. Clean them out. I'm sure if the switch or whatever is broken, it won't be too hard to replace.

Also, keep a flashlight in the trunk emoji

Im having the same damn problem!! I posted this a while back and it seems to be a faulty switch. From what I understand the swith is built into the latch mechanism back there and you can replace that whole housing. My biggest problem is I have a factory alarm and when it thinks the trunk is suddenly opend the alarm goes off! pisses me off! Anyway, 2 days ago it suddenly started working right without me touching it so well see how long it lasts.
