Hi I'm new here and i'm starting to fix up my 97 RS, the firsthing i want to fix are the windows. They are loose that if I hit a bump with them down it gives a really loud 'BANG' noise. If they are up with the doors shut I could practically pull them out and I could stick my fingers inside.

And the worst is when I shut the door with the window down it makes a loud noise that attracts everyone's attention in the parking lot.

I don't know if I'm in the right forum, but I'm new here and my friend recomemnded this site and so far I've been reading good posts and advices.

the same thing happens to me when i close my door with the window down... but not with the window up. anybody fix this?

well, i just fixed my passenger side one. The windows, well in a gs, have rails, or tracks . these are held on by some bolts. on mine it had 2 of them loose. check inside see if theres any holes on the door that look as if they need to have a bolt in there, then look inside and see if you can slide your hand in there and wigle the window rails/ tracks. In my case I found one bolt inside the door, and another inside the inside plastic covering. good luck since it was a real bitc* for me .

I have the same problem with both doors and my trunk hatch. I think it's just wear and tear(sp) from many miles. I actually was going to try and work on that and replacing the door handle today. If/when I do, I'll take pics. Time to whip out the Chiltons...

Well i have never really taken an Eclipse window out, but i do replace windows at my work. Usually when a glass is really loose, it is becuase of the "regulator" has gone bad. As they wear, they can get really loose, or really tight. It could be too, where the glass connects to the regulator, sometimes it can break there or come loose. You really have to take off the inner door panel, and start to inspect it yourself. Roll the window up and down as you look at all the moving parts. Grasp the glass, and wiggle it back and forth and try and figure out where all the looseness is..its all you can do for now..If in doubt of your skills, take it to a glass replacement shop..

damnit, some guy a long long time ago made a write up on how to fix it, you needed to bend the rails or something you should search it...

belieeeeeeeeeve me, if it was possible to find that write up or post by using the search, i woulda found it. about a month ago i wanted that window rattle gone so i spent a very long time on here searching for any info, couldnt find it, so i took my panels off and tryd to fix that shit. had no luck so after about a day of getting tired of looking at my ugly ass door insides, i threw the panels bacck on. my rattle isnt that bad and only happens when the windows are down so im livin with it right now. and taking the panels on/off in our cars seems to not be the greatest thing, due to those cheap ass little plastic things that keep them cliped in. and those metal clip thing's that are all over the back of the panels are pieces of shit too. so be careful when you start messin with that stuff, it doesnt always go back to the way it was.

i saw on an earlier post, tightening isnt going to do much for it, you have to stuff a nice sheet of foam between the window so it will have nowhere to go side to side, itll only move up and down like intended.
