A thing occured to me, when I dropped off the $300 insurance check and estimate from the insurance company....I left my car there and filled out the work order for myself. (name, addy, phone, etc.) and he told me to sign the bottom. It was an empty estimate/work order form. I said "woah I aint signing that!" and he's like "well, many times the insurance company won't allow or approve of any work unless it is signed first"


Do I need to go back there and get that back or rip it up, since I don't want a damn lein on my car in case the insurance company doesnt want to pay up more money? I was thinking about that this morning and after I told my folks about it...hmmmm

You should have an estimate first, get approved from the insurance that they will pay up to that amount, if you need to do something extra or you personally would like to change something, there should be a legend that says that you would have to be notified before they do any work, but since you have the estimate, this is unlikely. or that you accept to pay up to $xxxx amount with out telling you.

The insurance company is OBLIGATED by law to return your car to like-new condition up to 75% of the total value of your car before the accident. it is ILLEGAL for them to "refuse" to pay more money (within reason given the damage done) if the total value is less that 75% of the value of your car. $300 IS NOT going to fix your car. hey know that. They lowballed you. it's normal.

Nevermind. got it. I talked to both body shop and ins adjuster on the phone...they were yelling at each other because the shop said 2hrs labor to remove/install bumper is not enough...body shop guy said it would take 6 hrs, since it was not installed properly and painted properly, lol. It has to be stripped down and roughed up and primered. So my adjuster is refusing to pay that much, and it's a really HUGE battle right now between both of them. It's almost funny. Bad news is that he said the headlight gap cannot be fixed upon just looking at it without tearing into it. Hmmmm

Somehow, I am and will be getting screwed out of this deal.


It really makes me wonder now all the bullshit of modding this car. If it were normal and had a normal front end, I would not be dealing with all this. So just imagine what thoughts are going through my mind. (which seems to be often now more than ever in the past)

Now they are arguing over a matter of 3.1 hrs of paint/body when the body shop wants 4 hrs. I may or may not leave the car there if the body shop won't budge. Over a matter of .9 hrs! sheesh

BTW they are only fixing the bumper. No headlite or fender stuff. O well *shrugs* Time for vinyl decals soon!

Is your headlight scratched at all? If so, you get a brand new one. That's what my insurance company did. At first he didn't put it on there, then I showed him some light scratches (not visible from more than one foot away) and they added a new headlight to the list ($325). If the fender is damaged at all, they should fix that.

Also, about the bumper being improperly painted and installed the first time - to be honest, that's not the insurance company's fault since you did that yourself when taking it to a shop previously, so I think that's why they don't want to pay. Because going by the reasoning of returning it back to previous conditoin, then theoretically they can just return it into the previous improperly painted and installed condition. Hope it all works out for you, gotta fight for your fender and headlight, it's your right.
