#23992, "Help with shaved doors"

I'm about to oder an autolok door popper kit.
Now my Q is how many lbs should i get 35? 50?
and I've done all the work on my car from body-kit, audio system to coilovers
should i be able to install the poppers or is it a little to hard?

Not being rude...but if you have to ask those types of questions...go take it to a shop and let them do it.

I would get the 50lbs ones and get little springs in the bottom right corners of both doors to help "push" the doors out as well for when they stick. They WILL stick...especially in cold climates. Now as far as the body work goes...it's tricky because our vehicles are so curvy. You will need a curved piece of metal plate inside to cover the holes then bondo up the rest to smooth it over real good.

I recommend having a cellunoid switch down below operated by a key...so you can always lock the system. Key in and turned = unlocked. Key OUT = locked.

Now a good place for switches is under each front fender or in the mirrors. I assume you will also want remote switches too for your keys for keyless entry.

Bye.

First of all, don't go with AUTOLOC. They're overpriced and their products suck! I had AUTOLOC's on my old car and they all went out in less than 4 months and I was using the 50lbs. They only poppers I've found to be any good are by a company called Bear, they're solonoids, not gear driven motors like AUTOLOC uses. If you decide to get gear driven poppers (I don't recommend them, the gears strip too easy and the motors burn up quite easily) get at least 50Lb poppers, if not more. Shaving handles isn't easy nor cheap, if you don't know EXACTLY what you are doing, don't attempt it. Shaving is unforgiving and if you screw it up, your car will look like it has more waves than a ocean!

^ he said it to a tee 10000%

solonoids solonoids solonoids solonoids solonoids

NO mechincal gear crap!!!!

Heck I used an 86 oldsmobile door solonoids from a junkyard. aside from cold weather and it sticking...never failed on me. 'cept when I left my lights on! sheesh, that was NOT fun. Considering you have to pop the hood from the inside to jumpstart the battery to open the door.

Imagine the fun you will be getting yourself into. Whatever you do...don't shave the hatch keyhole, lol...might be squattin through the trunk a few times when you leave ur lights on or lock your keys in hehe
