#23355, "Hatch leaking"

Anyone else have their hatch leak?? Mine is ok while its raining, but if I raise it to put something in there, all this water comes from somewhere in the hatch and right into the car. Im thinking maybe the spoiler is a little loose and its letting water into the hatch that way, but any ideas??

Mine does that too...runs down the bead of the hatch I think. I washed my car yesterday and lifted the hatch to grab my towel, poured water all over my amp and CD changer...no damage though.

Yea I bet its our spoilers...I never thought of that. I just cleaned out that drain, but now Im getting water from the hatch itself. I took my wing off one time and I bet thats whats causing the leaking.

Hey
It may not be the spoiler. Mine is leaking to, what I did is it took the cover off, went inside the trunk with a flash light, closed the hatch. While my friend was spraying the car with the water from outside I was looking where the water is coming from. It came out to be the window seal.

i used to have this problem, but it hasnt reappeard for me in some time.. basically after replacing the rear hatch rubber weatherstripping and checking to make sure the drain tubes were unclogged, it seemed to do the trick.

i think this is a perfect time to ask my unanswered question once again, and i wouldnt have asked in the first place if the darn search would work with the archives.

where can we get the weather stripping/window seals for our cars????

i have just sound proofed the entire inside of the car and that would be the final touch to getting as close as possible to that solid german quality.

thanks
-paul.

as far as the weatherstriping that goes on the insde of the hatch area.. you will need to go to the dealership.. should be about $50-60 its well worth it if your current one is all torn up like mine was. for the window weather stripping you will have to call up window repair places. i think they would more than likely cary that kind of stuff or even the dealership, but im sure its more universal than the other stuff in between the hatch and the car.

Would that be covered under the Mitsubishi factory warranty?? I still have the factory bumper-bumper warranty in effect until July.
