MAKE SURE THEY ARE CLEAN!!!!!

That is first and foremost!

Other than that, just follow the instructions for the paint. I used 500 degree engine paint and it dried in 30 minutes so I was able to do 3 coats of paint and 3 clear coats in 1 day.

I didn't really sand mine, no need for primer, just use high temp engine paint. I carefully used masking tape and newspaper to protect the tire. BTW, I would only paint stock rims. I would never paint aftermarket rims because the paint will not come out perfect no matter what...

Well I painted my enkie rims and it seems to stick fine. I used a primer but it really makes no difference.

Ya for the most part it should be okay, I'm just saying personally I wouldn't ruin aftermarket rims by trying to paint them myself. I would get aftermarket rims powdercoated (the real way) since they are worth more.

Mybad for old thread, I have a question about the hi temp 500* paint, how many cans did you buy of each. I'm repainting my stock gst 5 star wheels before I mount my Falkens.

No sanding done at all? You should always at least rough them up with 200 grit uniformly over the surface of the wheel before painting. If anyone else sees this thread and is looking to paint their wheels, do a search on the subject on VWVortex, there are some very good threads on proper wheel painting and the results are durable.
