#22327, "How much weight is added if I paint the CF hood!"
Thats my q, any ideas. I have a black car, the stock hood is scratched up and needs new paint for the show season, I like how light CF is, but have never liked it on a black car. What do you think? I want to stay OEM looking, no predator hood, but want to loose weight? Is it a waste to paint CF?

Not enough for you to care. I'd say about a pound as well. Still gonna be way lighter than your stock hood either way.
As far as being a waste I think so. That's just my opinion though. Paint a black carbon fiberhood black? I understand you don't like it but I do so I guess that's just where I'm coming from. And if you're concerned because you need to hit the show circuit you may score more points with carbon fiber. Just seems like a needless spending of extra dough to me unless you really can't live with it. Alot of times it's not even noticeable on a black car unless you get close. It's hard to differentiate on any car for that matter. Unless you get near it you don't know if it's a carbon fiber hood or just a regular black one. So since your car is black you're straight. I don't know, just what I think. Good Luck, Later...

i agree with adrian, but i personally like the carbon fiber hood look, so i guess i'm biased. however, i REALLY like it on a black car. looks even cleaner than on any other color car. here are a few pics from a gs-t on cardomain.com. i think this ride is SICK!!!:

Paint would add at most a pound, but I wouldn't paint a cf hood because its a waste. The CF hoods you buy for under 600 all are fiberglass underneath. So you might as well just get a full fiberglass hood and paint it. It would be cheaper that way, and the fiberglass hood might be at most 10 pounds heavier than a cf one.

yea dont waste money on a cf hood just to paint it black, you can buy fiberglass oem hoods.
