I've never "fiberglassed" interior, but I've done pretty close to it. Instead of going through the trouble of laying the glass, smoothing it, and all that aggrivating stuff we did this:

Lightly sand the pieces you wanna do (just enough to scuff it), nest skip the fiber part and lay down a couple coats of urethane (one of the last steps of fiberglassing). Make sure that after each coat you let it dry, sand it again, and then lay down your next coat. You need at least 3 coats of the urethane. When you got the coating on, go ahead and spray it, not with Krylon but with actual car paint ( might want a body shop to do it). Once it is dried, clear it with car grade clear and buff it to a high shine. This method works great and is a hell of alot easier than actually fiberglassing it. When it gets dull, simply take some carnuba wax or polish and shine it. I've done this on at least 5 cars, including my Escort (R.I.P)

As for the cost, it depends on the price of urethane in your area. I did my whole interior for under $200 and it looks awesome when it's done.

you could also sand it down till there is no more texture and then primer, paint, and then clear for the same look but you have to make sure you add flex to the paint. The thing about about adding the gel coating is that it can also crack and it will look like shit if that happens. If you just sand and paint you could wet sand it if it ever cracked.

You can buy the urethane at any local Auto Paint store or anywhere that sells fiberglass products. I buy all my stuff from the local PPG Auto Body shop, but I think you can even get the stuff at Lowes or Home Depot. If you do it right the first time, it won't crack and it won't fade like fabric / leather will. In fact, your leather dash will dry and crack way before this stuff will. I'm working on some pictures for you guys, I did my WHOLE interior in my old car ('95 Escort Wagon, R.I.P., Don't laugh it was a 8-time show winner) but I didn't have a digi camera then so I got to find someone who's scanner is actually working.
