ya, so i been rollin around w/ my power antannae always in the up postition... i have cleaned it up, and pushed it back down, but when i use the radio, it tries to go up and goes up about a foot, and then clicks like crazy..

i have left it in the up position for awhile now, and when i turn the car off, or turn the radio on, i hear the motor werkin, it just doesnt catch whatever it needs to in order for the antannae to go up/down...

im wantin to yank the whole assembly, but dont want to comprimise my reception in the process... also, i have my remote power line for my amp hookd up to it...

any insight into how i can fix (if its easy) or how to yank it while retaining good reception, and slappin my remote power wire for my amp..

p.s. im no electric guru, but i do understand i can get a reception amplifier, or sumthin similar in place of the stock power antennae.. also, i dunno if i got the antennae in my rear windshield, but i gots a 99gs..

Check the rear window for the diversity antenae. If you have it you will have three connectors on the windshield, two for the defroster, and on for the antenae (top on the passenger side if I remember right...).

I use my diversity antenae and it works fine for me. But I live close to Chicago so there is a lot of signal stregnth. If you are out in the country somewhere you may not get as good a receptioon with it...

Or you could just diconnect the power to the antenae and leave it up.

Just do what I did. If you open your trunk and remove the plastic cover to get access to the power antenna - just unplug it. There's just one wire that powers the antenna up/down.

By pulling that power source the antenna still works - just doesn't go up and down anymore.

ya, i figured i could just yank the power wire, but wat about my remote turn on for my amp??

what color wire is it, and will it effect my amp?? if i just yank the power from the connector at the antennae?? the remote turn on is spliced into it about 6inches away from the antennae..

Just replace it... I just finished putting in a power antenna to replace my RS ugly ass one. I got it for 40 bux at Discount Auto Parts.

vegas, you could do what i did, i wanked the power antenea out and put one of those little black whip style anteneas on it looks sweet as hell and works great. The best part is that i only paid $9 bucks, usally can pick up at any automotive store.

The 2GNT is Gone... and the curse too!!

unnplugging the power to power antenae will not affect your amp turn on signal.

My girlfriend's altima does the same thing. She bent hers and it stayed in the up posisiton and she tryed to push it back it so it might work again Now it makes this loud ass noise like the motor is trying but its all messed up. Everyone always thinks her cars bout to blow up or something. The noise quits after bout 20 seconds tho.
