I did my seats all black with Duplicolor's fabric dye spray cans. It came out really nice. I used a stiff nylon bristle brush after each coat of paint, to raise up all the fibers in the seat fabric, and then after it was all dry, brushed it all out again, and vacumed it, and the feel is almost just like stock. The stuff hasen't come off, or rubbed off whatsoever yet...looks pretty good.. worked great on the seatbelts too, same feel after i painted them...

Yeah i did use both on my car, but the main reason why is that i looked all over for the Duplicolor stuff. Only place i could find it was Autozone, and i depleated all of their stock at about 5 local stores in town emoji I used that stuff for all the plastic parts and panels. I then used the Plasticote stuff on the seats and seat belts, since this was fairly easy to get at a different store. I used about 7 or so cans of the Duplicolor for the plastic, and about 5 cans of the Plasticote for the rear and front seats and belts. Both seem to be working just fine..only thing is that the "ebony" plasticote seems to be a slightly lighter shade of black, not a deep black like the duplicolor, but that might be because its on fabric also...

Hmmm ive used the duplicolor on the plastic panels and it scratches right off. But the material like the dash, armrest, and top of doors I used it bc thats the vinyl. but the plastic for me at least didn't work. Did you use a clear coat over your vinyl dye on the plastic panels? So what was it plasticote or duplicolor that you used on your seats or was it both? Show me pics of your seats...I would like to see how it turned out. I tried some of that duplicolor vinyl and fabric dye on my head liner behind my sunvisor to test it and it doesn't come out to smooth kinda had a blotchy look to it. It left it with a hard gritty texture kinda like sandpaper. So I plan on just wrappin my headliner with fabric.

I am currently debating wheather to paint my cloth seats or have them re-upholstered in vinyl (which by the way will cost me about 600 bucks to have both front and rear seats) Does it take some extra care spraying onto fabric? I've heard that some of the sprayed areas tend to be uneven in color.

Well i too have had a little problem with the paint scraching off. The big key here is to CLEAN each part VERY WELL with soap and water, scrubbing each part very well too. Dry it off with paper towels, and try to not touch it too much with your hands, as the oil from your skin may effect the adheasion. Make very LIGHT coats with it too. Just mist it on there, use just enough to make complete coverage. Its not like regular paint where you can load up the stuff, just mist it on there. When i did it that way, the stuff holds on really well, at least for now anyway. I used only the Duplicolor fabric/vinyl dye "flat black" on all plastic panels. They make a "vinyl black" also, but that is too shiny to match the stock black color. The spray valve on the duplicolor's cans is a nice one, it can fan out the spray really nice, to give a good coverage. I would have used the same stuff on the seats and belts, but ran out. I then used the plasticote's stuff on all the seats and belts. The key to doing the seats is to spray in even, smoothe strokes, to get even coverage. I prob did about 3-4 good coats of paint to the seats before it looked nice and even. Remember, the fabric will soak the paint right up, and you will need more/heavier coats of it to cover well unlike the plastic panels. I uses a stiff nylon scrub brush right after each coat of paint on the seats to lift up the fibers on the seats, and help get the paint into the seats well, and makes for a uniform color. After the stuff is dry, i used the same brush to brush out the seats to give back the normal fabric feel, and then vacummed it. Turned out excellent. Nice feel, no rubbing off or fading. Also, be sure to have CLEAN seats befor you dye them..

Same here Mike, I painted my whole interior black, now all I have to do is install my black carpet I bought from ACCMats, and finally do something about the grey seats I might redo them with with black vinyl.
