....correctly?

I snuck in today after work to see if they even TOUCHED the infernal bumper...well from what I saw this little hispanic guy (no english) and I do mean little was hosing the bumper down with water/hose, soap, and there were grey primer spots only on the areas that were flaked or chipped off. I am sure they arent done yet, but from what I could tell the grey primer blended in perfectly to the bright-ass red paint on it. The areas of primer i noticed were: on top of bumper, right below where the headlites are, on both sides, the ineer mouth, all up inside there and around, and on the top corners and sides....I still saw a few black chipped marks/areas near where the bumper itself scraped on the road, but I'm sure they arent done yet prepping it I HOPE. Tell me what u think.

I still have no idea if my life depended on it where the hell that wing is.

i would imagine that they are supposed to strip all the paint off, then prime the whole thing, not just the parts that chipped, then repaint it

it sounds like they were just sanding down where it chipped prior and primed it there.. and were giong to perhaps use the existing paint (could you tell if they wetsanded off the clear?) as a base coat.. however - after seeing how the bumper flaked before i would think they would strip the entire bumper back down and prime the entire thing with good primer with a flex agent in it, then paint (with a flex in the paint as well)..

Sounds to me like that bumper isn't the only thing getting hosed. Hope this works out for ya.

Ya what everyone else said. In any normal case, it would be okay to use the base coat as a primer. But since your base coat isn't sticking well, the I dunno. It may or may not work. I think they are assuming the parts that didn't get chipped will stay. You really need to get it out of that shop. What I would do at this point, is let them repaint the bumper, paint the 125 and call it a loss. They can keep trying to attempt to fix it, but probably won't ever succeed. Just stay calm and think of it as a loss, at least it was only 125 and not more.

Yeah like said above... on normal paint jobs you can use the paint as a base coat, But seeing as the paint was flaking they really shouldn't. What could happen is they will fix the bad area, and paint it. then possbly in the future the original paint my start to come off the bumper and since the new paint is on that it will look all tore up. I think u should just let them do there thing... no point in stressing as the are obviously morons. Once their done put it back on the ride, then just drive with it, Hopefully everything will be all good. but if it happens again you might as well call it a loss, and take it to another body shop to get done right. but ask around first this time before you go to another shop.

Yeah the wing is another reason you may just wanna call it a loss on the bumper... seeing as he is doing it free.... you don't wanna go and start pissing him off, then have him mess that up too, or make it worse. It sucks u had to go through all that drama. hopefully it will all be over soon.
