I was gonna take out the dash but it was to hard for me to do so im going the same route that kaptain Mike took by painting it inside the car. My question is this can you spray the headliner with the duplicolor vinyl and fabric dye or will it turn out really bad. I already have everything taped off and thought I would ask before spraying the headliner. I need to know ASAP they are calling for rain later so need to get it done now. Thx

just take the headliner out and redo it, not that hard at all and doesnt take much time. you could do it while your dash is drying. you dont have to take off the seatbelts either like some say, at least i didnt. i wouldnt recommend spraying it, wouldnt it be kinda hard to spray upside down? my vote is for redoing the headliner, peep this pic: http://us.f1.yahoofs.com/users/33928e61/bc/liner4.jpg?bcIpJC9A5C7xKKvw

by the way, let me know how spraying the dash without taking it out goes. i did the back panels, hatch, and doors, but i took those out and im gonna take off the bottom peices of the dash too. i didnt want to take the dash out and i know mike said he had no trouble but i was wondering how you make out. if the paint goes on evenly and how hard it is to paint up close by the window. TIA!

i would NOT spray the headliner. I would only spray it with the 3M adhesive and use fabric over it. I wouldnt paint it.

How does this affect the rain? *curious The headliner is up inside ur car, lol. If you mean b/c u have the sunroof off, no biggies, just temporarirly rescrew in the 6 screws and put the sunroof back in?

it is effected by the rain bc I don't want to sit in my car with the doors closed and spray the dash and headliner. I am still pretty high now. Well I got it all done except for the headliner. I went ahead and tried it on the backside of the sunvisor...I don't recommend doing this. It is easier to spray the dash while its in the car I didn't have any problems and it turned out really good Ill post pics soon. As for the headliner how do you get it out? I couldn't find out how to get the passenger side handle off. Someone let me know bc its gotta be done. Thanks for your help guys.

i still need to make that writeup soon i guess about the headliner...gimme a week or two so that when i redo mine again that i can take detailed step by step pics along the way...im going for more of a design/pattern type fabric this time, with red/black/white on it instead of all red...add a little design to the setup insides.....so be patient grasshoppa.

the passenger side handle? do you mean the "oh shit" bar? just slide up the cover on the bottom of the handle and you will reveal a screw under there. also, there are two tabs you have to pop off with a flathead underneath the panels that run down the windsheild. also, take off the dome light and the sun visors. in the back, there are two more tabs under the panels by the seat belts, i didnt have to take off the seat belts, just bent the panel back far enough to get at the tabs and take out the headliner. i also took out the peice that runs along the back of the headliner by the hatch, just pop that out, no screws...thats how i did mine, and if you have a sunroof, i dont know anything bout that. hoped this helped. peace

i am definetly interested in seeing your dash, i am gonna start mine soon as the weather gets nice enough again. i wanna do it in the car too.
