That's what our door handles are made off. Yup, add me to the list of people who broke their door handles. I just read one of the recent posts about another guy who broke his too. It really sucks if u have to go to the other side to open ur door. And Satan is charging 140 for labor and 67 for the handle. Dayam...Hey John99RS, u said u got urs for 30 bucks? What place is this at? Maybe I could haggle down the price. Either that or hope my warranty covers this. But I bought mine 2nd hand from a Toyota dealer so I dunno if they will.

So, anyone in SoCal could help me put on my door handles? And which would be cheaper, get new handles or just shave it off? Cuz in the long run, I might break the passenger side too. How much is shaving door handles gonna cost? Thanks for the info...

At least you don't have to pay to paint yours! I had just had my handles and mirrors painted to match and 2 weeks later the drivers handle broke so now I have one black door handle again. The install is SIMPLE. Just take off the plastic panel and remove the broken handle and put the new one in it's place. Didn't even take me an hour. I did pay $50 for the handle though.

Hehe, I guess that's the cool thing with a black car. U already have color-keyed door handles in the first place. I guess I'll just buy a new one then. But I'm still curious how much it would cost to shave door handles. Anyone know?

Ok, shave door handles, I don't know but I'll bet it's a lot of money.

I just got mine repaired. (if you look at my sig, you can see it's broken).

I paid 60 bucks shipped for the handle from Tall Mitsu. My local Satan wanted 85. I paid 40 to have it painted. and the guy said he'd install it for an extra 20.

Now the install. Yes it's easy, about 4 screws I think. But it is a PAIN IN THE ASS! It was well worth the 20 for the guy to put it in.

So final damage is $120 all said and done. But you don't have to paint yours (lucky bastard):)

Yours would be alot cheaper.

well, if you know how to weld, its free, get some sheet metal the thickness of our doors, im thinking 1/4" or 3/8" i may be wrong, then cut a sheet similar to the size of the whole left by the handle, take weld your metal in, then run a bead, and grind it down, then fill in with bondo, then that should do it

yeah happened to me to mike, but its an easy fix. as for shaving like chris said u have to weld a plate over then bondo then u have to have your whole door reapainted, and seeing as u don't even need to paint ur replacment handles I say just replacing is cheaper even if u break the other one. and I think I paid like 30 some dollars for mine. I had to get mine the same day. I wasn't about to be opening my car from the passenger side all the time.

Aight, thanks for the info. Hey Jeff, where'd u get urs for 30 bucks? Just wanna know so maybe I could have it shipped over here or ask my local Satan to bring their price down. Damn freakin cheap plastic. Hey, someone mentioned a group buy. Why not complain and ask for a recall on the door handles??? I mean, for the 19 years that I've lived, I have never experienced a door handle breaking on me except this car. We've had a 89 Sentra and the door handles laster 11 years!!! This car is what, 5 yrs old? O well. I just hate it that I have to pay for cheap plastic. Might as well pay with plastic for plastic.. emoji
