okay, i remember seeing someone do a write up on installing an APC extinguisher on the A piller. who/where was that. i want to do the same thing. How do you get the Passanger side piller off?

It pops out just like the driver side pillar. You just gotta remove the oh shit handle. Just lift the cover up and push it back. then you can get to the screw or bolt dont remember what it was.

its a phillips screw holding it in with 3 clips on the pillar itself, just pull. i havent seen a 2g here with an extinguisher on the pillar, i may be wrong. i have a mag-lite on mine, seems a little more functional than an extinguisher you will never use. how many people do you know whose cabins have caught on fire? http://www.geocities.com/blue2gnt blue2gnt@hotmail.com AOL IM - ThreeRedDiamonds

I know one person, me. Back in high school I had a amp short circuit on me and started the trunk of my *cough* *cough* civic *cough* *cough* at the time on fire. Car was totalled due to the damage. Maybe it was just the gods shinning down on me and saying get rid of that damn honduh in their own special way? = )
PS- To those of you how run your amps @ at 2ohm load be carefull and make sure they are vented very well or use extra fans to keep em cool.

Almost happened to me too. Wires cam off my power cap and touched all sorts of things. Sparks flying all over the place...lucky no fire though...whew! That's why I have an extinguisher....not on the A-pillar though.

i have an extinguisher too, i stole it from my work and then painted it blue, slapped on the NOS logo, changed the spray hose to braided stainless and use it at shows as a joke. the "NOS" sticker i changed so that it says "NOT" clever eh? maybe ill put it in my car now cause i got two amps running pretty hot as well with no ventilation http://www.geocities.com/blue2gnt blue2gnt@hotmail.com AOL IM - ThreeRedDiamonds

I thought it would be too heavy for te pillr to support it. So, hey behind the center console, in the back, between the front seats, there is a hump and it is crpeted. I drilled holes and bolted mine there.I would move it if I knew it wouldn't fall off my pillar.

See, you don't use it to put out a fire. You use it when a big guy tries to start shit, spray him in the face(heard it was an instant sinus infection on contact) Then punch him and drive home in 1 piece. I put it behind the center console b/c of easy access.

That's funny you should say that. one time, honest to God, i was driving, and i seen this fat girl that had been talking shit about me. she was in the parking lot of the mall. i pulled up in the opposite direction of her car so my driver side window was at her driver side window...i was really close. as i began talking i put the fire extinguisher between my legs and pulled the safety pin. i made sure her car was in park, then PSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSST i filled her car with an entire mini fire extinguisher. Then i peeled off and laughed as i seen 3 people jumping out of the car holding their mouths. it was hilarious.

Dunno about you guys, but I think we all need to have a fire extinguisher. You never know why. Personally, I keep it behind my passenger seat. Even when I drag race, and weight is an issue I keep the fire extinguisher.
The average fire extinguisher costs about $10, and make sure that you get the correct kind that helps put out grease fires. For nice $50 fire extinguishers, they are refillable, so don't worry about that.
Also don't forget that insurance my have a slight "issue" with MODIFIED cars...ahem ahem..."it was YOUR fault the car caught fire, you have messed with.....the air filter"
Sorry for putting a dampener on the mood, its just that I think safety is an important issue, and I care about my fellow racing pals.
As for personal "protection", that stupid invention called a club that no one uses (and why, it doesn't help for anything) makes a damn good "tool"
